Default What's the best vetiver soap outside of QED? Anything resembling Floris or Guerlain?

There seems to be a shortage of vetiver only or vetiver dominant soaps out there. I've used the QED and HBS and think they're both great, although the HBS is fragrance oil and is not a true, typical vetiver. What others are some of your favorites? Is there anything that might smell anything close to Guerlain or Floris? Mama Bear does make a "Veldfire" soap, which is sandalwood, vetiver, chapparal and cypress. Anyone have any experience with it?

I had the Veldfire SC but it was right when Sue was pulling her creams. The scent was quite nice. I also have Sue's Sweet Vetiver and it performs well but I find the scent rather meh.

I own Sue's Veldfire soap. I do not detect pronounced vetiver in it, though it's no doubt in there somewhere. Many of Sue's soaps, even the scents that would seem from the description to be woodsier or smokier such as the Veldfire, tend to have a sweetness operating in the background that overcomes the drier notes. This is just my opinion, of course, YMMV.

Unfortunately there are not any triple milled vetiver soaps that I'm aware of. I sure wish there were.

However, I compensate with Salter's French Vetiver cream. It has a very nice scent to it if you like vetiver and does lather very well. Every now and then I bring it out, especially in Spring.

    Hope that's helpful.

QED Vetiver shaving soap and Cyril R. Salter French Vetiver shaving cream do it, for me, hitting from both sides of the plate (before you know it, it'll be time for Spring Training!)

The French company Bea Laboratoire/ Savon du Midi produce a Vetiver scented soap. It smells much closer to Vetiver than their other Shaving Soap Santal does to Sandalwood.
The scent is mixed with Rosemary, so it's a lighter than Vetiver fans may want, but it does have that bacony smell you only get from Vetiver. It can't match the eye-watering intensity of QED, but it is still well scented in my opinion.

Initial impressions are very good. I was dismayed to find out that I had the reformulated soaps and not the original ones, but if I hadn't known about the reformulation I would have had no reason to worry. That being said, as good as these ones are, I can't help but wonder what I missed out on.
    Warm regards,

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I totally forgot about SCS, that'll probably be my next purchase. The French soap sounds pretty interesting, as well.

I wish L'Occittane did a version of their shave soap in their Vetyver scent. I'd be all over that!

I was going to suggest the Bea Savon du Midi soap too. It really smells good and Guerlain-ish. However it dried my skin ... but the Harris soaps dry my skin also so that may be only me!
It is interseting that a number of french produced products are unknown in France. Nobody knows Pré de Provence and Provence Santé there and the vetyver and sandalwood "Chalus" soaps are well known in Germany but I don´t think I have ever spotted them in France!

    Haribo macht Kinder Männer froh!

*For those who are scratching their heads and asking themselves, "WTF?" The most popular, dare I say, beloved gummy bear in Germany is made by the company Haribo. Their slogan is: Haribo macht Kinder froh! --> Haribo makes kids happy! Männer being the plural for man, hence, Haribo makes men happy!
