Default Anyone heard from Stauff recently?

I traded a brush with Fredrick (Stauff) in early October and so far I haven't received my brush.

I sent my last email to Stauff on 12/06 and so far no response. He was last online on 12/07 so I just wanted to check and see if any other member might have corresponded with him recently.

Thank and I appreciate all the help.

Not to sound too "AOL" but "me too". I set up a trade with him in late October. He even confirmed that the puck of soap I sent to him had arrived in early November. His half of the trade never arrived. Several PM's went unanswered. Not sure what has happened. Thought customs may have snagged my soap or something but now that someone else mentions having the same problem I have to wonder what the real reason is.

Perhaps a member in his country may be able to get his number and phone him???

The mods might have more information or may have other ways to contact him. I'd send them a PM and see if they can help.

The following quote can be found here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=18590

    5. Caveat Emptor (buyer beware). The administrators/moderators are not responsible for sales, warranties, returns, exchanges, etc. of any type.

While they may know whether or not he is still a member, I would not expect them to get involved in this matter. They have far too much on their plates to get involved in matters like this...Things like this, while unfortunate (and rare), happen from time to time and, hence "buyer/trader beware."

Hence why I have not contacted them in this matter. However, given Bostonian's post I felt compelled to at least respond that I was in the same boat to, at the very least, establish a pattern.

Folks we are not responsible for policing individual transactions in the trading forum but if a member has has reneged on a number of transaction we do want to hear about that.

I hope everything is OK with Stauff and that these transactions get completed.

Also, in addition to the reminder gunner posted (caveat emptor) getting insurance on items sold and traded is also a good idea, especially when shipping overseas.
    Cheers, Dave

What is the best way for you (the Moderators) to find out about multiple trades-gone-bad? I chalked up my missing package to caveat emptor and didn't notify the staff. I was frustrated that Stauff hasn't responded to my PMs (even though he has apparently visited B&B and participated in the forum since our trade) but as he was a long-standing member of the forum I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Not until Bostonian's post did I realize that I wasn't the only one.

P.S. I am batting .000 in international trades so far. I have another international trade on another forum that is MIA and my PM inquiring about it has been met with crickets chirping. The trade was set up just before Christmas so I am hoping that shipment was delayed due to the holidays (but I can't find that out unless the other person responds). Three weeks from Canada seems rather excessive.

I don't have this problem with CONUS trades...

I can't imagine this is willful or deliberate activity by Stauff; he's a good guy. Maybe he's just overwhelmed right now; I'm sure he'll make a reappearance in the near future (unless something horrible has happened, which I hope isn't the case).

A lot of the time we find out about these things by threads like this. If you PM a Mod about a trade gone bad you'll likely get "caveat emptor" type of a response. But do let us know. Sometimes we are aware of members legitimately gone MIA and can advise. If there is real trouble brewing we can piece together the patterns to identify repeat offenders by arcane, mystical and not well understood methods.

Again , there are no promises or guarantees on our part and we do not chase down transactions gone bad.
    Cheers, Dave

+1. Not to disparage the OP's comments (which I find entirely appropriate), but I do hope he's well.

Yeah, I didn't mean to make it seem that the mods could make everything right but they could have some background knowledge that could help in understanding the current situation.

There was a strike of inside workers at Canada Post recently, spokesman said it wouldn't interfere with mail delivery...yeah right! I am also waiting for two packages to arrive...not from the above mentioned member, one from overseas and one from the U.S.

Thanks to all who have posted their thoughts. I would like to make it clear that I had no intention of putting any policing responsibility on the Mods.

These guys have done such a great jobs of providing us with this forums to share info and buy items that usually most of us would have a hard time getting so I would once again like to thank them all and if they can assist me and others in any way that is just a bonus and my thanks to the Mods in advance for their efforts.

He actually posted in the forums that he did receive my brush and then in the subsequent emails he just kept on saying that he will ship his brush soon which never materialized so don't know whats going on over there.

If there are any kind members from his country and can try to contact him I would really appreciate that.

I recently bought some Feathers from an eBayer in Montreal. Delivery through Canada Post took longer than normal, but they finally got here; maybe it was the strike Bill referred to, I dunno.

Anyway, an RFF buddy in Mississauga had a US seller send him some gear via me, and it didn't arrive, didn't arrive, etc. Turns out the seller was in a serious accident, couldn't even respond for awhile, etc. So while it's OK to be cautious, even suspicious, I think that should also be balanced with open-mindedness.

I requested a notification when he read my PM which was sent on 12/11. The system says my PM is still "Unread".

I have never had any trouble with Stauff before. Maybe he's got private issues at the moment which take priority for him.
