Default Nub here with a nice story

Hey gang - just joined up over the holidays. I'm not quite going the DE path - at least not yet. I've been using St. James cedar and Bigelow (Proraso) shave creams with a brush and my fusion razor for about 6 months. Started poking around on the net and found this group - actually looking for alternatives to the fusion. Found that, and a lot more.

Lots of great information here. As I was sifting through the information, I found the link for Ogallala bay rum. I placed a very, very small order with the folks at Ogallala. Part of that was a sample cologne for $.01. I sent John an email asking for a sample of aftershave instead of cologne. I promptly got a response and not only got a sample of aftershave, but multiple aftershaves, and a cologne as well.

I don't know if you're a bay rum lover like I am, but if you are, seriously consider doing business with the folks at Ogallala. Customer service like that is a rare thing!

    Great group here as well.

Welcome to the site Sir. I used the fusion for months and months with my brushes and creams until I finally went with a Merkur HD and then to a gillette flair tip. I am using my Slim adjustable on 9 now.
    YMMV? I don't think so.

John at ogallala is very generous indeed. The soap is crazy good. Glad to see you are using a brush but that fusion has to be replaced with a safety razor.

    Welcome!

Enjoy warm and firm lather, and then you'll want to try good old safety razor or maybe straight...

But till then, enjoy in home made lather!

Welcome to B&B, from another "Bay Rum Bum"!

Just relax, go with what works for you, and enjoy your shaves.

IMHO, the dirty secret is that ninety percent of a good shave is in the lather and the preparation, and if you do that well you could get good shaves with a pretty crummy razor or blade.

I love my vintage DE razors, but to each his own and why not?

    Cheers!

    Welcome.

I personally don't like the Fusion, but I am finding that I like cartridges better than DE. I've gravitated toward Trac II and Atra, for now. I think either one delivers just as good a shave as the Fusion, if not better, and the carts are a lot less expensive.
