Thread: cigars for xmas

    Default cigars for xmas

My brother got me a few cigars for Christmas and I thought I'd share--

    1 nice Perdomo Patriarch
1 Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ
    1 Fuente Fuente Opus X

I'd heard of the Opus X but never seen one. It is supposedly the rarest super premium cigar -- my brother's local smoke shop waited 16 months to get five in stock. He gave them to me in one of those leather / cedar travel cigar cases.

    Good times!

    Nice selections!

Eat a full meal for the Pepin and the Opus, or else...

    Enjoy!

Very nice score! Was just thinking about retiring to the garage for a smoke myself.

Enjoy. Those are great cigars. Let us know what you think about them.

I'm settling them into the humidor for a while -- probably for a couple months. I find that with the cold dry air and my recent transfer to dayshift, I am smoking cigars less often! I got a nice relaxing feeling just sniffing the Opus this afternoon... that's going to be a nice one.

I was thinking about having it after a night at the symphony, following a dinner with a nice bottle of Opus One -- just to round out the musical theme. hah

I'm glad to hear someone else besides me has to go to the garage to smoke! The garage....... the true gentleman's domain, (well, besides the shaving room otherwise known as the bathroom).

I love hanging out in the garage with a good smoke. Since the temps have dropped to insane lows, I haven't been out more than once or twice, but now that I'll be breaking ground on my new home in January, I'll have my very own insulated and heated garage for next winter.

Congrats on the cigars. The Opus X line is truly amazing, I had the pleasure of enjoying a Opus X Double Corona awhile back. It was a fantastic full-bodied smoke. I picked up a couple Padrón 1964 Exclusivos and Ashton VSG Robustos as a little Christmas gift to myself

    Enjoy the new smokes

Let the Opus AGE for a while before smoking.
Go hunt down an Anejo too (Opus comes out a few times a year to the NYC dealers, Anejo is once a year)

I have a few Anejos left over from last year. Luckily my wife was able to find some for me for Christmas. Our B&M only allows three per size per customer. I'll let these set for a while before I torch one.

My experience with the Opus; it demands a period of rest to allow it to age slightly from when it was first wrapped, three months would be my personal minimum. As fast as these are sucked up in tobacconists the one you get from them has generally been rolled just days or maybe a few weeks before and has not had an opportunity to have this first ageing like so many others that have already sat in the humidor waiting to be purchased.

    Good luck and enjoy it!

I have a complete set of Opuses (Opii ?) one in each size that I have been saving since 1996. I bought them when my niece was born, and I've been saving them to smoke at her Bat Mitzvah.

Every so often, I open the zip-lock that they've been stored in, and just inhale the aroma. Indescribable!

Can't wait to fire up that torpedo.

I'll be letting the Opus age for about 8 months, when I plan to smoke it as a celebration. My first child is due around then...

Congrats to you and your wife. I feel that you have the perfect occasion for this smoke, and 8 months age will be great on this tobacco!

    Fixed that for ya, buddy.

I got some Comacho pre-Embargos for an early Christmas. But, it's been too cold here to indulge. That should all change on Wednesday when the ionic air purifiers arrive.
