  1. Default WTB: Hone and Strop

    Hey Everyone and Merry Christmas!

I'm looking to buy everything I need to Hone and strop my 5/8 Dovo Special. I currently own a TM Vegan synthetic strop but I don't think thats enough. (any suggestions here are also welcome)

I'm a college student taking up Straight shaving to save money but so far its cost me an arm and a leg. I'm hoping it pays for it self in the long run; so basically I would like quality equipment but I am limited by cash.

Any help would be extreamly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Brian

the synthetic strop is most certainly enough to strop your razor.
as far as hones, your best option is to send it out for honing, if you didn't pick the honing service when you ordered it.
a barbers hone should be enough to maintain a prehoned razor, however for more serious work you'll want to get either a norton 4000/8000, or a coticule and these are well above $50.
it's too late now, but if you really wanted to save money, a vintage razor is the ticket. with a new razor you're paying a premium for the cosmetic condition.
