    Default How do I clean my DE razor?

    How do I clean my Merkur 34c De razor? Is there any product? How often do I clean them?

    Can you give me step by step directions how I clean my DE razor?
    Because my DE razor are kind cover with white smear like a cloud. I want them to be shiny and brand new.

    That would be great if you tell me a directions.

    Chris;
    You'll find many threads on cleaning here. Maas is used by lots of people along with many other metal cleaners/polishes.
    But, a couple of years back (when i first started lurking here) i read a thread by someone who suggested toothpaste. It's a good, mild cleaner and should keep your DE's looking nice between heavy-duty polishes.

    The "white cloud" that you describe is just cream residue, or soap scum. Scrubbing Bubbles or any such product will work. It disinfects it and shines it right up. Just spray the stuff on it, let it sit for a minute and wipe it off with the non-abrasive side of a sponge or with a towel. I don't do this very often, maybe just once a month, or with a new razor.

    Mostly though, I just wash my razor with regular soap and water everytime I change the blade. I dry and buff with a hand towel. This is enough to remove the soap scum.

    I wipe the razor with a towel after every shave (carefully), and I when I change the blade I clean it more thoroughly with a toothbrush and warm water. No cleaning agents.

    Scrubbing Bubbles is the way to go.
    If you have soft water, just spray it on, let the razor sit, then rinse it off.
    If you have hard water, do the same as above, but dry it off with a towel right away or yo will get hard water spots on it.

    Here is a link to my Review of Scrubbing Bubbles, many other people also rate it quite high.

    +1 for toothpaste. it really works (not the gel but the plain white paste) I just polished up some tie clips worked great!

    there's a lot of things you could use. i actually use an old toothbrush and some dish washing liquid. scrub it a little bit under some hot water and the soap scum comes right off.
