    Default Smoothness and presentable

I have a question that I observed, when I used to shave with an electric razor, I could get my face to be smooth but you can still see the whole area gray. and now that I am shaving with DE, the shave comes out to be more presentable but my face feels very rough. What is the reason for this?

If you're new to DE, it could be that you're being too aggressive, or not prepping adequately.

Proper prep, light passes, no pressure.

    what he said.

remember your target is above the skin level, so dont press the razor into your skin, or you will irritate and cut your self.

what prep do you have, and what passes do you make (ie, wtg, atg etc)?

Yes, I do tend to get irritation usually at the third pass, and I would stop after that pass.

I take a shower, then lather up with proraso in a bowl, lather on my face for 20 seconds each time.

I do WTG, XTG, XTG using Crystal blade in a Merker classic.

The only advise I can give is to try some different blades. Each person seems to find a certain blade that works for them in their razor. I thought Derbys were my blade for life until my shaves went down hill. I got a box of Red Packs with a razor I purchased and they made a huge difference in the quality of my shaves.

www.westcoastshaving.com has a great selection of blades to choose from and he's a member of B&B.

Oddly enough, I can get a completely smooth face quite easily now after using a DE for almost a year, but still never get rid of the grey 'hint' of a beard... oh well.

You know,, I found then same thing...
It must be because there isn't 5 blades puling the hairs out so much farther.
My skin seems to be in much better condition since I've made the change to DE's then to a straight though
    I won't be changing back
