Default Going to Italy in 2 days. What to buy?

    Hello all,

This is my first post. Hooray.

I will be in Italy for a few weeks, and wanted to know if there were any MUST BUYS over there? Anything we can't really get on this side of the world (The US that is)? I will be stocking up on Proraso products, as I suspect they will be dirt cheap.

    Thanks for any hints...

cheap as hell alum blocks ( if my memory serves me right I got one for 1,5 euro). proraso is the most known one, but its not so popular there as you would think it is. and try pharmacies as well.

oh, and if its your first trip to Italy, expect chaos everywhere

    First, welcome to B&B!

Secondly, If I were going back to Italy, I'd try to find some SM Novella pre-post and soap. I absolutely love their stuff, but it is ungodly expensive around here.

Finally, as Spoon said, if you haven't been to Italy before, expect some chaos... especially in the larger cities. Don't get run over...

Welcome to B&B Davide! Don't get too caught up in your shave product hunt that you miss all of the beauty that is Italy! I've been a few times, you should have a great time (and find some great buys on shave products)

I'm sure you were asking about shaving-related products, but also want to add that I've gotten amazing pricing on Italian made fountain pens while there (if you're into FP's at all) -- way way less than even the best discounted prices I could ever get here in the US; usually well below 50% of full US retail...

    Hi Davide,

Welcome to B&B. When I was in Italy, I had a hard time finding stuff. Look for Omega, it's like Proraso but better.

Are you going to Florence? It would be nice to stop in at the Santa Maria Novella farmicia. You won't save any money but they do have some nice stuff. Even if you don't buy any SMN stuff it is worth a stop if you are there anyway.

    Have fun.

Proraso cream in the red tube, if you can find it.

    Omega cream in the tube.

    Omega brushes.

For a good summary of what's available here from Italy, check out
the razor-(and)-brush(dot)com web site. Eliminate the dashes and parentheses, and you should be able to come up with an address.

Any reference to the site is banned here.

Default Thanks for all the welcomes.

    Thanks for all the welcomes!

Ferrari...I should have thought of that.

My family is from Italy, and I visit every few years. This is the first time since I have entered the WS world...

Hopefully I will come back with a good stash. Thanks for the suggestions...

Ah yes, "see Napoli and die". Also home of the flying "@0@k & 8@lls. Is the garbage workers strike still going on?

Proraso is very cheap in Italy. You can find it in supermarkets.
