Default Help Accident! - I cut myself

I was shaving hard against the grain on my upper lip with a 3-blade sensor excel and i think the one of the blades went in. Blood was coming out, not in tiny amounts but a bit mildly. At that time the cut looked open while the blood was coming out and looked deep. I had 2 cuts, one big, and one small, the blade must of slipped.

At the moment bleeding has stopped, it bled for quite a while, the small cut bled much longer in small amounts while bleeding from the big cut stopped. I applied pressure to the cut to stop the bleeding for quite a long time using dettol, then put some petroleum jelly and it stopped finally. Now i got a strong stinging sensation and i cant talk properly or smile it just stings/hurts (abit).

The cut does not look open and deep now, it looks like its closed, but on closer inspection i can see the cut - what should i do?

should i go to ER and have it stitched ? or will the cut heal?

See your doctor or else that will leave a scar.

I would sue Gillette for having such a dangerous device on the market.

From your description I would put a butterfly bandage on it, but if it makes you feel better go the ER and get it stitched. It's your face, you've got to take care of it.

If you have to ask whether or not to see a doctor, you probably should see a doctor.

How big are these cuts you're talking about? If they've stopped bleeding on their own, stitches probably aren't going to help too much. I cut myself in almost the same spot years ago with a Mach 3, it left three nice red lines right under my nose for about a week but healed nicely.

You'd have to do some SERIOUS damage to yourself with a Mach3 to need stiches. You can probably tell by looking at it though. Does it look like it could be stiched up? Hopefully not. I'd make sure its clean and bandage it. If it keeps coming open and bleeding, butterfly bandage it and see a doctor. I dont think an ER is necessary unless it is bleeding uncontrollably. You'd end up wasting 4 hours for them to butterfly bandage it more than likely. Once it starts healing, use Neosporin. Oh, and dont shave for a while!

Just leave it, think about the kick ass scar you're gonna get!

In all seriousness though, I've done that before. It heals after a few days, no scar. Don't bother paying $100 to see a docter.

If you think it is deep enough keep it clean and bandaged. Take a couple of tylenols and see your doctor in the morning.

Save the $100 doctor's visit and let it heal on it's own. I've done exactly what you did when I used a Mach 3, it'll be fine. Clean it with alcohol and let it heal.

Now, more importantly, use the $100 you saved by not going to the doctor and buy more shaving stuff.

I find that a vinegar poultice can be healing!

The cuts arent to long length wise (going down) its a slightly vertical cut but not a horizontal cut so doesnt go accross the lip or all the way down.

You know when you want to fry some fish (maybe salmon) and you make those cuts in the body so some of the ingredients would go in its like that, when blood was coming out look as if my lip split open but i dont know whats happening down there after the blood stopped coming out it looks as if its healed and now i can only see the spot where it cuts, it looks a bit like i cut a zit in half. So at the moment some slight pain and stinging, i keep putting dettol on it (aftershave, vinegar, alcohol would be like putting acid or salt on a cut)

When i first looked at it, it did look like it would need stiches but now it seems its seamless with 0.3cm scab

how deep was it? and were you shaving hard against the grain? (i think i did it too hard and the blade must of slipped or inverted into the skin)

Mine admittedly weren't very deep, they were the result of a sideways slip with the razor. It sliced just like a knife, I didn't even realize I'd cut myself for a few seconds.

yeh, i was doing it sideways as well, your lucky yours wasnt deep, the way mine looked is as if it just had a knife in it.

I think i saw it for a split second how the blade must have went inverted in my lip
