    Default Tabac EdT v. EdC

Well this is somewhat unexpected. I have used Tabac EdT for a while, and I like that heavy, musky scent, especially in cooler weather. Since I was running low, I picked up a new bottle yesterday, but it was the EdC version. I expected a bit of a change in intensity, perhaps, but I find the scent different. Not as heavy, more fruity and floral. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I nuts? I think I am going to do a bit of a comparison this week and see what is going on.

I found the same in comparing the EDC to the A/S. The A/S has what I consider to be a "more" Tabac scent- at least initially. I don't know how this plays out after dry-down though.

Edit: PS - I found the same to be the case with Old Spice Cologne v. Old Spice Aftershave.

They're two different scents IMO. The EDC is far superior - to me the EDT smells sweet and cheap. In combination w/ the soap and AS splash, the EDC is far better: it's only slightly more floral than those two, whereas the EDT is something completely different.

    My ranking would be:
1° AS (the manliest of the three)
    2° EDC
    3° (way back) EDT

Thanks, Frederick. That is really interesting. I am going to play around a bit this week and see if I can communicate the differences better. I haven't tried the A/S, but I have the other two.

Scotto, I'm glad you brought this up. I've been trying to decide which Tabac to order and await your input.

To those that use the aftershave; how is the longevity?

In my experience its better than most. Most A/S only last a couple of hours on me. Tabac A/S seems to hang in there pretty well - most of the work day.

Well, I just smelled Tabac for the first time...the EdC. I would tend to agree with Scotto, it seemed very fruity and sweet, and not at all what I was expecting. If I get around to finally purchasing Tabac, it will be either the EdT or the aftershave.

Any other input on these two varieties would be appreciated, as I would be buying blind.

Ditto for me - when I use my Tabac A/S, I also use it as my cologne for the day.

Today I am wearing the EdC on my left arm and the EdT on my right. They are more similar than different, but each has its own character.

The EdC is lighter, softer and smoother. The EdT is stronger and much muskier. The EdC favors the mid-notes (lavender, moss), and the EdT the base notes (carnation, wood). I might be tempted to say the EdT is a bit more synthetic smelling as well. I would wear either for sure, but for general use I think the EdC might be a better choice.

Just when I thought I had narrowed it down to the EdT or aftershave...

The more information I get about Tabac, the more confused I become.

I think you would be happy with any (or all) if them.

I agree with Scotto. Don't worry yourself too much about it. Its relatively cheap, so jump on in. You'll probably have it all at some point.
