hi.
i would like to smell of roses. has anybody got any ideas of a rose scented cologne/edt to achieve this?
failing that, a floral scent would go down well.
thanks

If you're looking for a pure rose fragrance: Penhaligon’s Elisabethan Rose

Penhaligon's Hammam Bouquet is another one to try

The elizabethan rose is officially 'female' but you shouldn't let that stop you. The ham. is a male fragrance but it is not pure rose (I believe lavendar and something else in there as well).

IMO the finest rose fragrance on the planet is Frederic Malle's "Une Rose." This is available exclusively in the USA at Barneys NY.

Hi Chris. I agree. Based on your input last year, I obtained two samples of Malle scent samples. Une Rose and Noir Espices. The Une Rose is way too feminine for me but it is as you say, certainly the finest rose scent around. I like my rose scents to be complex mixes but my wife adores this one and ONE TINY MIST lasts for hours. In fact, she hasn't used up the tester yet. A very neat little atomiser and I wish that more scent houses would do it this way. I will likely pop for a bottle of this one day. Just for her. Can you tell I like her?Originally Posted by fisherc

Check out C&S #88. Also Floris #89. This months Decant Club has L'Artisan Voleur de Roses as well as the #88 if you want to try those.
Montale also makes two very unique Rose fragrances that lean more to the masculine. One is Black Aoud and the other is Roses Musk. You can find these at http://www.theperfumeshoppe.com. BTW, they are NOT inexpensive.
And for something very unique (heavy on the Rose) and somewhat similar to C&S No 88 try the Italian made Domenico Caraceni for men. The only retailer of this outside Italy I know of is http://www.first-in-fragrance.com.

I have to confess liking Bronnley's Royal Horticultural Society Rose 'eau fraîche' rather a lot. Intended for ladies but still a great, fresh rose scent IMO. Comes at a very reasonable price. RHS rose soap is great as well.
Another option is the one and only Aqua di Parma: It contains Bulgarian rose, citrus and lavender. A great floral summer fragrance!
I love C&S No.88
what is c&s 88?
have you got a link or more info please??
thanks for the replys, still not too sure what to go for. there is a penhaligon's in chester that i can pop in and have a sniff around, so will have a gander next time im there.

D R Harris "Rose Bouquet" is sharp enough to be one you might look into.
i am currently researching which rose fragrance to purchase. i've got samples of Penhaligon's Elisabethan rose and Hammam bouquet.
The Elisabethan certainly smells of roses, but is perhaps a bit too 'old womanly', which is understandable considering it is made for females. but it smells a bit 'talcum powder-like' if that makes sense? nevertheless I wouldn't mind my front room smelling of it - so may invest in a candle.
the hammam is a lovely enough smell, but is it rosey enough? having said that, i can certainly smell some of the elisabethan rose in there, so it might be a grower. i'll see how the rest of the sampler goes.
i'm would like to try the c&s #88 and as you can see by my other thread am seeking a sample of this.
