38C or 38M? Opinions on matte finish?

I have decided to get a Merkur 38C or 38M. I'm wondering if the matte finish of the 38m makes the razor any easier to grip. Anybody have both? If you have any insight, please help me decide.

Norm, I only have 1 matte finish razor in my collection.

functions the same but I find it gets little use in rotation.
It's not as pretty and gets soap skum.

It's got a wierd feeling in my hand also.

just a personal preferance.

Thanks for the info! I have been leaning toward the chrome version, so that sounds good to me. Anyone else have any opinions on the matte finish?

I don't think you can beat the chrome finish. The 38C is an absolutely gorgeous razor. Just don't try to shine it up with your t-shirt or you'll be fixing a hole.

I owned the matte finish model for a while. I was able to get a very good grip on it, and all my shaves happen in the shower. I can't comment on the chrome model as I never owned one. I found that I didn't need the extra length or weight of the 38, so I sold it.

Best would be to view and feel them side by side in real life, but I'm not sure if you have a shop that offers them nearby.
