Default Just bought a vac pot

Guys I now have on the way to me a cona vac pot. the kitchen deluxe version, and I also have ordered some unground roasted beans, as I am gonna try out my zassenhaus grinder and not just sell it on.

the questions I have is how do I grind for a vac pot, and also, have I made a mistake in getting this model...

    Any input is appreciated!

I use the same grind I use for drip coffee.

Not sure on the particulars of the pot, though. Is this one that uses a spirit lamp for heat?

If I use a Cory rod, I use the same grind size as I do for drip. If I use the cloth filter, slightly finer.

It is a stove top model I believe. Truthfully I am wary of the performance but I can always try it once and if I don't like it, onto ebay it goes!

It is definitely a stove top, I checked. It is now in the safe hands of UPS and if it arrives tomorrow I will report back on how I found the performance.

Also, how much coffee should I use. I have a 7gram scoop if that helps. the exact model is Cona Deluxe Kitchen Model "D" 2 Pint

SweetMarias has nothing but good things to say about the Cona vac pots - they're very expensive ($200) and availability in NA is limited. I like the fact that they come with a glass rod instead of a filter.

I managed to find a line on a used (in excellent condition) one locally - stovetop model for $45 and will likely snap it up if they'll ship it to me.

This was plenty cheaper than 200 bucks, and honestly as I sit drinking my 1st cup of Costa Rica Finca De Licho - I can safely say for the 1st time in my life, I know what coffee is meant to taste like. I was dubious of the whole home grinding being so much better thing a bit, but now I am converted 10000000000%

What? I have no clue what you're talking about. Have you ordered your roaster yet? What about a Chemex? Or...

Look, sweet marias, has bean and ebay have all been scouted for roasters and manual espresso machines. Don't encourage me any more or there it gonna be a re-mortgage

    Have you tried French press?

A bodum french press was my go to coffee method before the cona. But when I used to use it it was more often than not supermarket ground coffee that went into it. The combo of well roasted beans home grinding and proper method is the reason my coffee drinking has improved so much.

The Cona is not a stovetop unit. The idea is to boil up some water in the microwave or stove and then pour that into the unit and then light the spirit lamp and in about 10 minutes or so it starts to work or you can just pour cold water in and light the lamp and wait for 30 minutes or so.
