Question Any Way to Fix Sprung Silo Doors on a TTO?

Well, I searched for this figuring I can't be the first person to ask. But had no luck. So, my apologies if this is a repeat.

I found a Sheraton this weekend and thought it was in shave-worthy condition (definitely not collectible). However, after checking it further at home, I find that one-half of one of the silo doors doesn't quite close all the way. But the other half of the same silo door does.

When I gently push down on the one-half, it does go down flush but it doesn't stay. And this effect is on the shaving edge of the silo door, too. You can see that the blade's edge would not be held snug against the comb, unless the silo door shut completely.

The silo door doesn't appear to be bent. The pins appear to be fine and working OK. It does open/close with a little difficulty (not much, but noticeable). None of the teeth on the combs (or any other part of the razor) appears bent or otherwise damaged.

So, has anyone else run into something similar? And found a way to fix it? Links, instructions and help are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Brent

Yup. I am currently working on a 30's Aristocrat with the exact same problem. I have finally determined that the base plate itself is bent on one side. I am currently trying to figure out a way of correcting this problem. I figure I'm going to have to disassemble the razor and try to bring the bent side into alignment with the working side, all without ruining the razor, which is in great shape other than this fairly serious issue.

I'm not positive but you might be able to get it apart using the same method as on a Super Speed.
Use a modified screwdriver to remove the left handed screw from inside the barrel/

Thanks, AG. I'll have to look more closely at the base plate and see how it looks.

Fortunately, the Sheraton just has the single, flat-head slot screw. So disassembly should be easy. And, if it's irreparable, I only spent $6. But I've wanted a Sheraton for a while (I love its oddball comb for some dumb reason).

Yup. That what I figured. In fact, I remember seeing a thread somewhere on the disassembly of the 30's Aristocrat, but haven't had time to search for it. I really don't want to delve into it until I have a dedicated two hours or so, which hasn't been a possibility recently.

I've taken a closer look at mine. The base plate seems OK. It actually seems it might be an issue with the TTO mechanism.

I'll do some more cleaning attempts this weekend and some lubrication. If that doesn't work, I'll look at a tear down when there's time.
