T&H West Indian Limes

Curious about something, and you folks that use this cream would have the answer Im sure.

Bought a tub of this T&H West India Limes. Pretty watery. Used a stick and swirled it around to try to thicken it up. Didnt help a lot. I then put it in the fridge. That helped some, but not permanently.

Other than that, seems to lather extremely well. Didnt use it as the wife didnt like the smell much. Ill prob have to try the CF Limes and hope thats agreeable to her....

Anyway, thanks in advance for your feedback about consistency.

Interesting. I have tried a sample from Scotto (which I am pretty sure would have been from a tub), and a tube that I bought. They were both about the same consistency, which was fairly substantial. That said, if it lathers well, shouldn't matter should it? My Taylor Avocado would pour if tipped, but I find it to be pretty great stuff....

My tube of Lime is definitely thicker than my tube of Taylor's Almond. It's not quite the thickness of C&E Almond, but it wasn't watery prior to my using it. I mean TUB.

Sometimes the tube creams are of different consistency than the tubs.

Watery? Nope, not at all.

Love the stuff. Not quite as slick as say C&E Sweet Almond Oil but it's pretty darn close.

Heres a pic of the lime creams from the 3T's:

Left to right: Trumpers Limes, Taylors Limes and T&H west Indian Limes

As you can see the T&H and Trumpers are very dense where as the Taylors is more fluid. However all of them work just as well when lathered up. I have heard from others that their Taylors lime looks more like my Trumpers limes so there is nothing to worry about. As long as it works why bother with it..

Haven't tried T&H Limes, I didn't like Taylor's Lemon Lime all that much. Trumper Limes is nice, it is very fragrant lime, slightly perfumed, definitely does not smell like "real" lime.

I also find my T&H Limes cream to be thick and dense relative to my Taylors Lemon & Lime (which doesn't appear to be as thin as is sometimes mentioned by members here).

Out of the 3 Limes, T&H is by far my favourite followed by Trumpers. Richard you should really try it out some time I am sure you'll like it.

Just finished shaving with the T&H Limes, since the wife is outta town. Man, that stuff is watery, nothing firm like the above pix. But it lathers up like nobodys business.

Just FYI, I just got some Taylors avocado and its real thick. I also have the Taylors Sandalwood and some Trumpers coconut. All are real thick, just like the pix scarface shows. The T&H would pur right out if I let it.

Watery? Sounds like something is wrong. I've had two tubs of West Indian Limes and one tub of Trafalgar and none of them were watery.

Almost exactly the same consistency as my Avocado. Interesting. Still, I wouldn't worry if it lathers up great.

moses, this is a bit off topic, but its my thread.
Read your post about the fella who is getting diminishing results after a couple weeks. I jumped around with blades 3 times during tonights shave trying to get the BBS shave again. Started with a derby, then went to a merkur, then feather. Im chasing the BBS now. Ill follow your advice and just stay with 1 blade brand for a month.....

Anyway. I would consider it strongly. I mean, like I said there, I am not expert. But that really helped me when I was having troubles. And I have heard a number of shave posters with much greater shaving lore suggest the same course of action. I used IPs, btw, but I doubt it matters that much. Derby would probably be another good bet. Even those Feathers, if relatively comfortable with them. It just really allowed my to focus on technique, without always having to figure out a different tool. My technique improved greatly as a result.

Oh, and it doesn't count unless you put that month's worth of same blades into the same razor.

This is one reason I've come to love Salter's so much. Moses' Taylor Avocado is runny and thin while mine is very dense (almost brick like). This thread points out different T&H consistencies, and it seems like the Trumpers can vary a lot too. Every tub of Salter's I've opened has had the same whipped, soft, and thick consistency to it. There never seems to be any difference from tub to tub.

The old Avocado formulation was thin as compared to the new formulation which is thick.

I'm not sure here, but I do believe that T&H is known for being fairly consistent most of the time, isn't it?
