I broke out my DE this morning, inspired by the recent posts and discouraged by Scotto's review of the NWC injector. I realized that my shaves with the injector weren't all that great. I whipped up some AOS lemon, knowing that it would provide a slick, comfortable lather. Holding the blade quite softly, I set the razor at 3 and carefully performed a three pass shave: N-S, Ear to Nose, and S-N. Smooth Success, with little to no irritation. Granted, I had a two day growth to work with, but I'm impressed with the shave that I got. Not bad for laying off of the DE since April!

We'll see how the rest of this week goes with ingrowns and irritation. Since that's the reason that I stopped using the DE in the first place, we'll see if mre careful technique can help out.

My best shave yet with a GEM - I find that these razors generally work better with a slick cream that allows the head to slide easily. I also find there to be a big difference between the GEMs with a safety bar and those with an open comb - with the formber being much more gentle and easier to learn on.
