Thanks gents. Johnniegold made the suggestion to me in PM to cram some hay in the top and bloom it out like a shaving brush. I wish I'd thought of that before disposing of the pumpkin (rodent issues in my apartment building, plus I've got no way to really display it as my unit doesn't open to the street)
