I've been curious, because for a while I was looking into Method Shaving. Instead I ended up on the Straight shaving path. But does anyone combine the two?

I have combined the two (still do) with excellent results. I guess the only difference for is that I used a straight razor instead of a DE. As far as the pastes to used with the Cube I found, in my opinion, that I can use most of them with no problems at all. The #3 paste is a water monger and requires obscene amounts of water so I stay away from it. Otherwise, any of the other pastes will do just fine. I have also combined the cube with other name brand creams with the same excellent results. Hopefully Mike will chime in with his experiences.
