Default For my first DR Harris which one do I pick?

Going shopping this week. I'd like to get my first Harris soap. Which one should it be, and why. I like menthol stuff, but am not a fan of sweet flowery fragrances. However, I will try anything at least once, who knows, I might just like it! What direction do I go?

He ate cold beans out of a can and drank some water, and then he saw the small mirror Parker had bought with the razor and the can of lather. He looked at himself and knew he had to take a chance on staying long enough to shave. He shaved, and that made him feel better. . .

If you're not a fan of sweet or flowery, Marlborough is probably the one for you. Arlington is not sweet, but has a citrus topnote that descends into woody fern-ness.

Almond is too powdery sweet, and Lavender is... well... a flower.

    Regards.

Both of those sound do-able. Thanks.

I love Arlington but like J said, Marlborough might be the best for your tastes. I haven't tried it yet but that's the next Harris on my list. Arlington is excellent soap and gives me smooth & comfortable shaves. From what I've read, all Harris soaps work the same and the only difference between them is the scent.

If you like menthol, I just picked up the DR Harris Arlington soap along with the aftershave and cologne and I really like it. Although it starts out with a citrusy note, it dries down into a nice woody scent. Marlborough is a strong sandalwood note. The Lavender is very muted, almost undetectable. I have never tried the almond.

The Arlington aftershave adds a nice menthol kick to finish off a shave with the Arlington soap.

All 3 of the ones that I have are great performers, top-notch soaps. Which ever one you choose, you will not be disappointed.
    Cheers,

Marlborough = Harris' take on the sandalwood theme. Reminiscent of C&E sandalwood, but less strong and a little more refined IMO.

most of these "which one should I pick" never seem to pare down my selections, but seem to do the opposite. After reading all the praise for any one product, seems like another choice to add to the shopping list.
All that seems to happen is I build a priority list of which one/s I will get first.
But the list never gets pared down.

Case in point. I had decided I would get Arlington and be done with it, but I got a great deal on a puck of the Lavender, so Arlington is still next on the list, but now Almond and Marlborough are both on the short list as well.

Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me?

My favorites are Marlborough and Lavender. Very different from one another but both are excellent.

Well, if we're just listing favorites, then get the Arlington, no contest

I'm feeling Arlington, so when I walk up to the counter, I'll probably find half a dozen of everything but Arllington. If so, then Marlboro it is. Whichever is OK by me.

So far I'm just dabbling with all that is available, but to me, Arlington just screams clean English soap.
