    Default Hello world

Hello. I am about 2 weeks into discovering DE wet shaving after years and years of electrics and dry shaving irritation. 31(ish), using a Merkur Futur, Trumpers Lime, either Wilkinson Sword or Tesco blades (I have yet to try any others though the Tesco ones have left me a little 'lumpy' tonight), and a nice badger brush.

After a bit of a lurk here and there I have tried pre and post-shower shaving, washing pre-shave to exfoliate and also hot towels as prep. Personally, the best shave to date as come from a WS blade and a hot towel pre-shower. This evening -as noted above- I went with a fresh Tesco blade, post-shower and have left my neck a bit red plus a couple of nicks. Though over the past 2 weeks there has been improvement in 'rawness' and bloodletting. Which is a bonus!

What is there to say apart from that? Cheeks are the smoothest they've been in years and there are patches on the neck which need attention. From what I have read so far, I'm not the only one

With post-shave I have found that a pure aloe vera gel cools the worst areas, though it does dry on like a second skin if you slap it on too thick...

Right, off to absorb more shaving knowledge, but thought I'd say a quick hello.

Welcome... and good choice of blades. I quite enjoy both Wilkinson Sword and Tesco blades (though they are difficult to get on my side of the Atlantic - especially the Tesco blades).

Hi ***, nice to have another Brit on board (I'm assuming you're a Brit if you're using tesco and WS blades).

Sorry guys, I know it might seem a bit odd and I certainly don't want anyone to think I'm slighting them or coming across all 'weird'. Just felt I needed to develop a certain 'critical space' between the 'me' and the online representation. Hope thats all right.

    Welcome!

Hey, this is a very friendly bunch. I'm sure no-one will take offense if you choose to keep private information private. It's your right.

Personally, I'm just myself whether online or in person but I understand that not everyone can be comfortable with that.
