    Default Leaving out XTG

I have been getting terrible razor burn on my neck when I shave across the grain and usually nick up my neck real bad. This week I have left out the XTG pass and instead doing my first pass WTG and two passes ATG. The results have been outstanding with no razor burn or nicks. In fact this morning was my best shave yet. I think I will continue with this technique. I have been using a Gillette Fat Boy set on No. 1 setting. Does anyone have similar experiences with the XTG pass?

On a different note, I just received a 1965 Gillette Super Speed that I won on Ebay! I am very excited to give it a run tomorrow morning!

    Dustin --

Improvise as needed. I usually do the WTG, XTG, ATG regimen. But I have a couple of small spots that are a challenge, and I do WTG, ATG, ATG and another spot where I do WTG, XTG, XTG.

There are no points for 'style' so do what you think is needed.

+1 Do whatever works for you. As burnwood said, I can also only generally go WTG and XTG.

Maybe check the grain of the hair on your neck. When I first started, I thought I was going XTG, but after closer examination, I found out that I was actually going ATG. Especially on your neck, your hair can do some strange things.
