Alum and Stypic Pencil Help

I use an alum block or Stypic Pencil when I cut myself shaving and the way I do it I use cold water and apply directly to nick for 10 seconds. Am I doing something wrong or anything else I should know.

Sounds about right... some areas have more capillaries and are just natural bleeders, in this case they will take longer to stop bleeding.

Sort of on the topic, but does an alum block do the same thing as putting witch hazel on my face after a shave?
