    Default Finest Malt Liquor

I'm sure most of us are somewhat past the malt liquor stage of the drinking game. Cream Ale thread made me think of all the drinking I did on the cheap as a teen. My two favorites were Mickeys, and Heffenreffer(? spelling). Nothing like trying to solve the puzzles under the cap after ingesting 6 or more Mickeys Looking to other's favorites and if anyone besides me still drinks this swill on occasion

Wow, same here. Out of curiosity it wasn't behind a Circuit City was it?

To the OP, I christen each new house I live in with a bottle of OE.

OE was definitely not one of my favorites, would rather have had a Colt .45.

40 oz of Malt Liquor. Such an economical way to get a quick buzz drunk on. Most of them were just flat nasty, but you drank them anyway because it was fun, and after a few swigs your taste buds were dead anyways..

One in particular I remember getting completed hammered to (and wasn't all that bad either) was Crazy Horse ML. Do they still make it? I don't believe I've ever used the word "fine" to describe any ML I've had, however, there were some that were better than others. When in doubt, a bottle of Colt .45 would always do the trick. Of course, so would a bottle of Boone's Farm...

Mickey's is definitely a fine malt liquor once you acquire the taste. Might have to make a roadtrip today now that I'm thinking about it as they don't sell it in my neck of the woods. Or see if my brother will bring some from Ct. when he comes to visit.

Wasn't there some malt liquor named Elephant something, or possibly just Elephant?

    Nope.

Actually, my buddy had them stashed in a backpack up in a canoe next to his dad's tool shed. The following Monday (Pres. day or something...kids off of school, but parents at work) we zipped over to another friend's house on our mopeds and proceeded to find our happy spot shortly before exceeding it and finding our "Oh dear God shoot me now!" spot.

Ahh, mickey's grenades... so many good times. I remember on one occassion after drinking more than a couple grenades I was trying to figure out one of the puzzles and it drove me crazy. I kept looking at it, and seeing a lower case greek lambda, along with a box on top of a ball. For hours I tried to figure it out, until this girl in the group looked at it and figured it out in seconds. Apparently I was holding the cap upside down, and that wasn't a lambda, but a Y. Guess I've been in engineering school too long when I assume that simple english letters are greek variables.

I don't drink malt liquor any more, with one exception around the 4th of July. Usually around that time DogFish head releases a 40 oz bottle of their "Liquor de Malt", made with red, white, and blue American corn. It even comes with a paper bag with the DFH logo, and intructions on how to wrap it! Pretty funny marketing, and rather tongue in cheek, but it actually is a fantastic malt liquor. It is dangerously drinkable, and has great flavor, along with a hint of hops... far different from the 40oz bottles of Schlitz or even *shudder* steel reserve that I used to have on occasion.

A mod needs to merge this with the Zima thread and move it to the new "middle school" subforum.

    Colt .45 in a 40oz bottle
I was very dissapointed when they changed the label to no longer read "Works Every Time"

I actually remember being 16 and looking to see if the store had any bottles not in the fridge because when you're sitting in a park with a bunch of friends in February holding warm beer is easier on the hands.

Nah, I prefer Boone's Farm. The subtle nose brings to mind the olfactory pleasures of pumping gas and the taste of cough syrup recalls my happier youth. Ahh... yeah, that's the good stuff.

    I should start a thread.

Little King's Cream Ale was a staple in my early days. No 40 ouncers, just the 7 oz. bottles, mini-cans, and kegs back then. Those were the same days when Michelob Dark and St. Pauli Girl (still have a poster from the mid-80's ) were considered exotic in my circles. Can't tolerate any of those three anymore.

"Finest malt liquor." Isn't that an oxymoron?

    My thoughts exactly.
That being said, with malt liquor I never steered far from Schlitz Silver Bull!

Is that a hint for November?
