Smoke? Smell? Behmor 1600

I want to get a coffee roaster, the Behmor 1600 specifically. If I roast on my stove top with the vent running, will the aroma permeate my apartment?

Pretty much. I tried the same thing in my house, and now roast outside. The smell will be there from just about any coffee roaster unless you can come up with a way to vent it outside.

Do you have a balcony/patio?

My understanding is that you can vent it directly to the outside through a window using a dryer hose (make sure you use the metal ones due to the heat!).

This is how portable air-conditioning units are vented, so should work just fine with a coffee roaster.

Someone with more experience will chime in on this, I'm sure.

If you vent it inside, you'll have a little bit of smoke and the smell for a couple days. I roast in my garage so have no problems. If you want to vent outside, make sure you're careful. There's an afterburner on the Behmor to help with the smoke, but it getes very very hot.
