Default Frustrating first attempt at wetshaving

So all my stuff except my razor and blades came in the mail today, so I figure I'd have a go at wetshaving with my fusion. I've watched all of mantic's videos that I know of so I had no trouble with how to use everything. I got a good looking lather with fluffy tips and everything. However, I felt like the stuff out of the can gave me better lubrication than a brush and cream.

So what am I doing wrong? Do I need some time to get used to it? More practice?

Here's what I was using: TOBS avocado, Proraso pre-post cream, alum block, and proraso aftershave cream.

IDK. The lather should be as wet as as possible without slipping of your face. Maybe it was too thick?

I think I know exactly what you mean. As this is only my third month, I am getting the hang of things, but one in a while I whip up lather and it's too dry. It looks like the lather is great, but there isn't any slip and I have to remind myself of the "wet" part of wet shaving.

Try adding a little more water, not so much you have soup, but enough that the lather peaks and is more slippery.

I am pretty sure you've figured this out yourself, but as I still do that, I thought I'd offer my two cents worth.

I think with more time you'll get everything in the zone.

alright. tomorrow I'm going to give myself more time. I think I'll see how wet is too wet to get an idea of the amount of water needed.

Another thing you can try is to be sure your face is wet(er) before you put the cream to your face. I have a few tubs of TOBS and have found that doing this helps.

I'm just guessing, but I'd bet the problem is the cartridge rather than the cream. I've never had good results using a cartridge w/brush.
