    Default Atkinsons // Plisson

Hello, guys ! Couple months ago-- I contacted ( E-mailed ) " Atkinsons " of Vancouver-- Re. ordering a " Plisson " Shave. Brush ( size #12...). Having NOT (!) received any responce from Atkinsons-- I telephoned them, and spoke with Barbara. She-- promised to call me back, and-... nothing. I send several E- mails == 0. telephoned again, again Barbara promised to call back, and again-- nothing. ~ week ago-- I have send 2 more E-mails Re. " Plisson "-- with the same ' result ' : 0- reply....

Is it-- ' normal', when ordering the " Rollsroyce ' of brushes-- to get such a 4-th rate "" service "'--?? Toronto, Canada

Never dealt with them, but having seen the Plissons in person while in France, my view is that you've been spared having paid Rolls Royce prices for very average brushes - sure, the HMW in horn might be nice to look at, but at over $300, there's lots of other brushes you can buy.

Sorry, this is just my disillusionment with Plisson after having ramped up to buy one when in Paris this summer and having been so totally disappointed with them upon handling.

I got mine out of the UK and had great service but Suzuki is right. Don't get me wrong, I like my HMW it is the best performing brush I have but by so low a margin that a Rooney Finest or Simpson Super looks like a bargin by comparison.

Over a year ago I spoke with JJ at Atkinson's and he was very helpful. I ended up not buying a Plisson from them but they were very earger to please. I can see how no contact would leave a bad taste in your mouth.

I bought a brush from the a couple of years ago. JJ was very helpful and I got a 20% discount by mentioning the forum. Shipping was quite fast as I recall. Call and ask for JJ.

A couple of weeks ago - I contacted Atkinsons via email and received an immediate reply from JJ. We emailed back and forth a couple times and ended up finalizing the deal via telephone. I received the B&B discount and am more than happy with the purchase.

I have no idea why you are having these problems. As suggested above, calling and asking to speak with JJ directly might help.

I have bought a couple of Plissons from Atkinsons. I too spoke with JJ and got great service. OTOH, I bought brushes that were in stock. A friend of mine ordered one that was not in stock and had to wait a couple of months.

It is my impression that they do not charge your credit card until they receive the brush from Plisson. I would telephone and ask for JJ. He will undoubtedly clear things up for you. Make sure you mention the forum for the 20% discount.

I also spoke with JJ via phone and e-mail when I purchased mine and had zero issues, the brush I purchased was not in stock and did take awhile to arrive but he was very upfront about it.

Remember, the FRENCH are not "Workaholics" like Americans... they take in excess of a month or more VACATION.... see this interesting article.... The fellows knotting Plisson's may fall into this catagory. I know one thing... when you FINALLY get the brush...you'll love it!

French know how to vacation... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...in704571.shtml

    Inspite of JJ's promise-- over the phone-- that I shall get my " Plisson ' --" in ~ a week "-- still- nothing ( after- 3 weeks ) ! They ( Atkinson---JJ & Diane)-- won't, even-- respond to my E-mails. That is-- what I get-- from a " high- end " , ' reputable'"-- store ??

That is disturbing. I'm sure you are not a happy camper! I'd send an overnight letter to Atkinson and request a FULL refund.

This is the first time I've ever heard a bad word spoken of Atkinson's or even JJ in particular. They have been very prompt and responsive to me in all of my communications with them. Something's not right here.

Have you checked your email inbox's filter settings. Maybe their emails are being erroniously filtered as spam.

That would be my best guess. I've found the service at Atkinson's to be first rate... on the phone, via email and in person.

Okay, I just gotta ask. What's up with your very odd grammar? Is it an ESL thing? An affectation? As a poet, I'm beyond curious. Just so you do know, it is a little jarring and hard to follow. Not trying to be a grammar nazi, just couldn't help but want to know.

Oh, I love my Plisson made vintage HMW brush. LOVE IT! But, then again, I paid much less than its value when I bought it as new old stock from a German drugstore liquidator.
