    Default Lathering Tabac

OK, last poll from me for a while. Probably.

My bowl of Tabac arrived yesterday (along with samples; thanks, Shaving Essentials!), and I just finished my first shave with it. I loaded my Rooney 3/1 with a few swirls, then began lathering on my face. I dipped one corner of the brush into water, and lathered some more. Wow, that's some very nice lather! Very dense and smooth, this is the best lather I've produced so far (vs. Col Conk and VDH). What's even better, I was able to lather for two more passes with just a bit more water -- I didn't need to touch the puck again (unlike Col Conk and VDH).

Face lathering seems to work well for me with Tabac (and Van der Hagen), but I'm curious: how do you like to lather your Tabac?

Most of the time I lather in a bowl, or scuttle. Although about every 4th time I'll use the face.

Regardless of method, Tabac is good stuff.

Bowl. It's easier for me to get consistent lather quality that way.

The important thing here is that you are using Tabac w/ a Rooney 3/1.

    You sir are a genius!

Oh. Looky there. So am I!

It's like comparing apples to oranges, really. I'll usually bowl lather Tabac, though. I get more control over the amount of water I add.

I bowl lather. Georgetown's lather bowl, as it turns out, seems to be the perfect compliment to tabac.

Both. Tabac n T&H Rose are great together.

I do both. Tabac is wonderful no matter how you use it.

You left out one obvious choice, to rub Tabac on face and then lather.
Tabac shave stick is just about the best one.

I do load the brush from bowl and then face lather. But if I had to travel, that shave stick option would be the one.

Face lather, as with all my soaps...

I have never gotten good results lathering soaps in bowls, so definitely face lathering.

Are there any places in the US that carry the Tabac shave stick?

    Lightbulb Porcine.

I create lather in a bowl (well... a large coffee mug). I used to lather on my face, but gave up as soon as I learnt that one might use a bowl. Much more interesting to see the lather. Additionally, gauging the amount of lather left after a pass is rather easier in a bowl than in a brush.

Bowl, because I'm a thick creamy lather junkie. Give me those thick shiny Tabac peaks!

I have found Tabac to be superior to every other soap I try. Even the soaps I really liked before I had Tabac now seem thin and unsatisfactory. Today I shaved with C&E Sandlewood soap...the lather was dry and thin compared to Tabac. I was very disappointed.

Tabac is the by far one of the best shaving products available. Now if only I could find their shave stick for when I am traveling.
