I only caught the celadon bug and was further taken over the edge with the posts in tea goobers blog. Its a great read on celadon teaware with pictures of his peronal collection.

No pu this morning instead some black tea 09 Spring Tai Tung "Hao Xian", Hand-Harvested getting ready to head out to an antiques fair.

Last night had some of the 80's tea brick that has been making some rounds. It is really nice to have a bunch of 80's, and 90's samples showing up from different people this week.

I would have to concur with the thoughts already posted on the 80's brick. Nothing exceptional but perfect if you want something smooth and dark, although it died a rather quick death (which is not a terrible thing... especially if the tea session starts at 10).

Also, on a side note my electricity blew out last night and my Breville seems to not be able to recover. It can't turn on anymore. Does anyone know any tricks on how to get it working again? (outside of unplugging or re-plugging?) thanks

BTW, nice pictures everyone, I'm gonna have to get me a celadon now ;-0. What do you guys think of the rim? It seems rather manly and better suited towards the aged stuff, but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

  3. Default 2009 Menghai Silver Peacock

I purchased a 25 gram sample of this last summer which I enjoyed very much , so I added a couple of cakes to my order with Yunnan Sourcing at the end of last August . I have just had a session with some taken from one of the cakes , and can't say that I enjoyed it very much . It is nothing like I remember the sample being . I'm hoping that it has just moved into it's next stage of development and will come good again sooner or later . All of the other young sheng cakes in my collection seem to be coming along very nicely , so I'm happy with my storage condition's .

Right when you thought we had pretty much covered all there is to say about the "2008 Peacock Of Menghai" here it is again. Now that I have a whole cake of it in my posession I,m a happy man indeed. Thanks Steve! Sweet, leathery, a tad beany and floral goodness. Hey, at least I didnt whip out the celadon cup we have become too familiar with.

Due to all of the talk about the Peacock of Menghai, have ordered a couple of tongs.

2008 Yong Pin Hao Yi Wu Wild Arbor. This may be one of my favorite teas. Not only is the taste very mature for a 2008 but the leaves are large and absolutely beautiful. I stayed up way too late last night and this is really hitting the spot this morninig.
Good Tea Drinking and Shaving! Best regards, Steve.

sweet, smooth, subtle floral nectar aromas, wow it really hit the spot today

My teas are tasting different to me but I dont know why. I have some new tea gear for brewing and drinking. Ive changed other variables that may have been part of this but I am not sure. Maybe its all the changes Ive made collectively making a difference. Either way a very enjoyable tea day for sure.

Goober have you tried this tea? If you are enjoying the peacock of menghai I really believe you will enjoy this one very much as well. Both of these teas are really great daily teas and excellent for the $$

The trick to brewing this tea is to start pouring it out before you add the water, as it benefits from a negative brewing time.

No, yet another tea Ive never tried yet. I cant keep up with some of you guys, there is only so much tea that even I can drink. There is lots of stuff out there that is old news to most of you, but I,m getting around to them, slowly but surely.

All of this talk of Peacock of Menghai has me a bit concerned so 2 tong order went to four tongs.

Enjoying some 2000 Yong Pin Hao "Yi Wu Zheng Shan" Stone-Pressed Raw tea. I think I am tea drunk. Having such a mellow session. I like these Yong Pin Hao teas a lot. I may have to expand my inventory.

For those that do not regularly check the vendor's area, you might want to take a peek. There is a tea contest and a teaware contest underway.

    Default Menghai 7542 (901)

Stuffed gaiwan at my desk. In line with Dr. Hobbes' assessment: a nice kick in the crotch (with floral notes) to get the day going !
