You know you're from Jersey when . . .

You don't think of fruit when people mention 'The Oranges.'

You know that it's called Great Adventure, not Six Flags.

A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.

You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.

You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk,

at 3 A.M.

You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.

At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and

you know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.

You know what a 'jug handle' is.

You know that WaWa is a convenience store.

You know that the state isn't all farmland.

You know that there are no 'beaches' in New Jersey --there's the shore--and you don't go 'to the shore,' you go 'down the shore.' And when you are there, you're not 'at the shore'; you are 'down the shore.'

You know how to properly negotiate a circle.

You knew that the last sentence had to do with driving.

You know that this is the only 'New' state that doesn't require 'New' to identify it (try . . . Mexico . . . York ..! . .. Hampshire-- doesn't work, does it?).

You know that a ' White Castle ' is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.

You consider putting mayo on a corned beef sandwich a sacrilege.

You don't think 'What exit?' is very funny.

You know that people from the 609 area code are 'a little different.' Yes they are!

You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton --that's for out-of-staters.

The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.

You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.

You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.

Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.

You know the location of every clip shown in the

Sopranos opening credits.

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.

You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights , and people from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South Jersey go to Wildwood.

(If you’re from S. Jersey you know Philly people go to Wildwood and S. Jersey people to go to LBI)

It can be no other way.

You weren't raised in New Jersey --you were raised in either North

Jersey , Central Jersey or South Jersey

You remember the stores S. Kleins, Haines, Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel, Bamberger's and Orbach's.

You also remember Palisades Amusement Park and Olympic Park.

You've had a boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries.

You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.

And finally . . .

You've NEVER, NEVER NEVER, EVER

pumped your own gas

My friends in NY went to Wildwood, the crazies. What a drive!

I've always considered NJ as NY's annoying little brother but in all seriousness, NJ is still better than a whole lot of other states in the Union, if you can afford to live there.

M

modern man

Don't forget

1. You keep a roll of quarters in your car.

2. You never make left turns.

Grew up down the shore just outside of Ocean City on the mainland. Mack and Manco's is the best pizza. And don't forget the Birch Beer! Got a kick out of that info! And man do I miss Wawa!

While at the OC boardwalk last month, Mack and Manco's had lines snaking across the boards while the pizzeria a few doors down was nearly empty. Best pizza I've had anywhere.

I grew up in Jersey. I would add you know you are in Jersey when you cannot go a block and a half without seeing a Pizza and Italian Sub place.

New Jersey has more Cubans in Union City (1 sq mi.) than Havana , Cuba .

Not anymore. Most of the Cubanos have gone south to Mayamibeesh, Florida.

Some things you forgot.

Jersey City elected a non-citizen, and if memory serves correctly, illegal alien as Mayor. He now has a street named after him, Thomas Gangemi Blvd.

You know that "Piney" isn't referring to a tree.

You know that "Acme" is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros creation.

You know how to translate this conversation: "Jeet yet?" "No, Jew?"

You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it "The City."

Miami Beach is becoming very Cubano indeed. I have a Cuban friend from college who wants to live down there. He talks about it like an old Cuban talks about old Cuba.

Question - How many Old Cubans does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer - Five. One to actually change the bulb, and four to stand under the ladder and comment about how much longer the bulbs lasted in Cuba Before Castro.

We now return you to the Jersey! thread with this anecdote...

One of my former student workers, who has since graduated, had a tee shirt that said, "Jersey girls ain't trash. Trash gets picked up." And he wondered why he had a hard time getting dates...

I have a cousin who came to the states in 1960, on the run from Castro ... he likes to say that "Miami is filled with Poor Young Cubans and Rich Old Jews."

Ironically, he fits both ends of the spectrum. When he came here, he was the former. After living in PA for 40 years and working as an Electrical Engineer, he plans to retire down in Florida in a year or two and be the latter.

+1

I have to cross the river and go over to PA to try and meet any decent women. Even over there, its slim pickings.

My social life was much, much better when I lived in Baltimore.

So the stuff that comes from China goes thru New Jersey before it's shipped to California? This kinda reminds me of Animal House when Bluto said "Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?" It doesn't matter he's on a roll.

:lol::lol::lol:

It used to be hard to find a lot of Venezuelans in the US. With Chavez quickly becoming Castro South, the diaspora is underway. It saddens me that Venezuela is reaching dire straits. :frown: It pleases me to see more of my lovely Venezolanas. Oh, the photos I could post.. :w00t:
