    Talking The Zowadas Are Coming, Pt. II

    Preceeded only by a shipping notification from Classic on Friday, this arrived today...

    The pictures say every thing that needs to be said except for thanks to Joel, for making this happen. And of course, thanks to Tim for being so damn good at what he does.

    ni-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ice!!

    It looks like ebony scales? I know TZ had some problems with the original scales on the first batch (including mine) but I got a replacement set of scales from him in no time flat (and he was a first-rate gent to deal with throughout.)

    I seem to recall that production of these razors was slower than expected because Tim's wife ran into some health problems ... so hopefully the arrival of the second batch is a sign that Mrs.Z is in better health!
    Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
    I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

    I posted in the original Zowada thread before I saw this Part II.

    I bought #17 of 20, and #17 finally arrived today. It is beautiful and definitely worth the wait. Mine has the light maple scales which provide a nice contrast to the damascus blade. Bigspendur posted a pic of his Zowada with the maple scales in Zowadas Are Coming, and mine is very similar.

    This weekend I may have my very first straight razor shave -- if I can get up the courage to try it.

Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark[/COLOR]

    Yes sir, that is ebony. I don't know if production was slower than expected, but like many fine things I expect this will be worth the wait. It only Tuesday and I am planning Saturday's shave.

    Tim, I echo Ian's sentiments. I hope the razor's arrival means Mrs. Z's health is improving!

    How could you resist? For your first shave, don't expect much. You goal is to get through it intact and perhaps shave a spot or two in the process. In some ways, straights are like guns. Treated with respect, they are very effective tools. Wield one cavalierly and you are going to get hurt.

    <sigh>

    Ah well, next time. Gorgeous razor, Henry! The Ebony compliments the Damascus perfectly.

    I don't really like the look of damascene blades but the scales look super awesome. Thanks for sharing the images!

    Well, I didn't get hurt, and I accomplished just what you said -- I managed to actually shave a spot or two on each cheek. I deemed it a successful first shave. I need to read up on the straight razor shaving however before trying to get my chin and neck.
