Do "shaped" badger brushes get "smooth" with use?

I remember when I first got my badger brush with the shaped head (that was cut to shape after the knot was glued), it felt scratchy on my face. Recently I noticed (or rather didn't notice) that it wasn't quite so scratchy any more.

Did the brush smooth out, did my face get used to it, or both?

I have a couple that have softened a bit with use..YMMV....
