    Default Question?

    Hi all...

I use a HD and Taylors with a Vulfix brush...after I wet my face again out of the shower and apply my cream after my first pass my skin doesn't feel slick enough to do a second pass..is this common and should I re-lather after my first pass.

Thanks for any help on this...

    Yes, absolutely.

As pointed out, yes, absolutely rinse and re-lather between each and every pass. If you've ever watched mantic's videos, I like his analogy of "shooting for par". In other words, you want to get the closest shave possible (get the ball in the whole) while using as few strokes as possible, and avoid going over a spot which has no cream/soap on it at all costs!

Thanks as always gents for your replies...I always thought that the creams should be lubricating enough for more than one pass.

Lather, shave, rinse and repeat... I always re-lather between passes and I always rinse my face with warm/hot water befrore I re-lather. This works for me...

I find I can make multiple (2-3) passes over the same area if done in quick succession without re-lathering. Especially when I use Poroaso cream. I'd never shave my entire face then re-start with out a re-lather... YMMV

If I have a good lather, I find it is not really a problem to quickly redo where I didn't get a good cut on a stroke. I say a good lather, but this is more dependant on the quality of the cream/soap than how good the lather I made with it is, I find. Honeybee, especially seems great in leaving enough slippery residue to go back over

That said, I DEFINITELY always relather between passes.

yep, I always re-lather between passes (I love spreading all that cream all over) but I don't rinse before each pass. I find it to be unnecessary to rinse every time, at least for me.

I never re-rinse before re-lathering. But I think now I will try it. While you may get by with an occasional pass or two on some spots without relathering you absolutely don't want to find out that you should have re-lathered the hard way! Ouch!

John, you'll come across some soaps/creams that are lubricating enough for some light t&c after doing a pass, but most of the time its better to rinse and re-lather....you can avoid irritation by always keeping a coating of lather between blade and face.

If using a Shave stick (i.e. QED), you can actually get away with just swiping the stick on desired area to be shaved, and without lathering, proceed to do some t&c. This is typically done after a final pass.

i always rinse and relather except after my final pass i dont rinse, then i wet my fingures and dip them in the lather bowl. i then use that hand to feel for missed stubble and T&C that way i always have at least a little lubrication on my face. i have been very tempted to try oil for the T&C.
