  1. Default Tampa Newbie Checking In

Hello everyone, my name is Derrick and I am new to wet shaving. I got my self a collection going and I think I am heading down the right path. So far, my shaves have been incredible and have been relaxing, heck I actually look forward to shaving! Imagine that! Below I have a picture of my collection, and if anyone has any suggestions of additions or any other tips and tricks, please feel free to chime in! Thanks!

    Collection Contains:
    Vulfix Super Badger brush
    Gillette ball ended Tech
    Gillette Slim
    Toms of Maine shaving cream
    C.O. Bigalow shaving cream
Weleda shaving cream (I tried it and I do not like it, the Toms and the Bigalow are WAY better IMHO, so I am looking to get rid of it if anyone is interested)
    Nivea cooling after shave balm
Nivea extreme comfort after shave balm
Aqua Velva classic ice blue after shave splash
C.O Bigalow canister (I use it as my scuttle)
Home made blade bank made out of a planters nut jar

That's a fine start. I just see creams, a tub of Tabac shaving soap would certainly be nice.

Welcome to B&B! You have put together a nice collection. I see that you have 2 Gillette razors...you might want to consider a Merkur (I like the Slant and Progress). I also like TOBS shave creams (Avacado and Rose my favorites) which you can get at a decent price. What blades are you using?

I would like to try the Tabac but fearful of ordering it since I may not like the scent.

Right now I am using Gillette 7 O'clock permasharp blades, the yellow boxed ones. I like them, especially in my slim dialed to a 5. The next time I shave I am going to try a 6 since at 5 it gave me a pretty close shave but not close enough.

The next blade I am going to try after the permasharp gets dull is a feather in the ball ended tech.

I ordered some decants of several after shave splashes from superlather.com, I am wanting to try out Floris Santal cream but man is it expensive. I tried a Merker, my father has one, not to my liking, he had a Futur, but I may give a slant a try.

Nice start. It'll only get better. See the AD's are taking hold. Try a puck of VDH glycerin soap ($1.50 at Walmart). Great lather, great shave. A fave of many here. Go to the head of the class and get a Merkur 39c slant on a barberpole. Very safe, great BBS shave in fewer passes with less irritation. Just call Lee at Lee's Razors (ph 1-800-503-5001); great guy and no S&H if you tell him you're a member of B&B. Keep us posted.

Welcome to B&B. I like what you have there. You should definitely try Proraso cream. I personally LOVE the scent, it's very soapy. VDH deluxe shaving soap is also very nice. It cost less that a cup of coffee at StarSchmucks and will give a great shave.
