Wacker Square point, Brazilian rosewood scales. Full hollow. There is some light pitting on the spine as visible in one of the pictures (picture makes it look worse than it is, camera was in macro mode).

Actually my favorite looking razor, but didn't realize until after I got it that full hollows don't work so well for me. I've used it twice. It's been sharpened but might need a slight touch up.

Looking for $190 shipped CONUS priority with insurance. That's a slight loss of what I originally paid, just looking to put that money towards a wedge-ier razor. I'll ship overseas, but price will change.

Wow! Spendy piece. I don't recognize the name / maker. Please excuse my ignorance. It's vintage?

I looked again and recognized the name Wacker. It was the other German name that threw me. Again, pardon the ignorance.

I really have no idea to it's value, but that's what I paid from a vendor who I believe gave me a fair price and I've only used it twice.

I'm certainly open to other offers, but I wouldn't expect the price to come down too much.

Easy lad, easy, no need to get the pot stirred over that post.

You mentioned that you paid a little over the $190 from a vendor. If you don't mind me asking, which vendor was it? Usually that amount of money is getting into the starting range of a custom straight versus a mass-produced model.

I did get it from John at shavingshop.com.

As far as that price, from my understanding, that's no where close to a custom blade. I could be wrong.

I understand it's not a cheap price, but the scales have obviously been redone (sorta custom, right?) and I haven't seen or heard anything about the manufacturer. I'm nowhere close to an expert on straights but it does seem to be a relatively rare make.

Let's see... for people unfamiliar with who he is it tells them that he has been grinding razors for half a century and likely knows a little something about the process. It says that he searches Solingen for razor blanks to grind. That would tell people a few things- one that most likely this razor was forged in Solingen. It would say that likely it was made of a quality steel (as most vintage razors are.) It would suggest that it is what could be considered NOS in some ways as everything but the finishing grind would be old. It would also go towards explaining the light pitting on the spine. If he found an old supply of blanks and ground them the spine would be left "as found." If I see pitting on a razor I am usually worried. Knowing that it was only because it was a blank and that the razor was ground afterward makes the light pitting on the spine a "non- issue" aside from cosmetic. I gave the link only for people who were unfamiliar with who Wacker is and what he does- for information.

Fair enough, I thought you were directing it at me for information specific to the razor. I apologize for any asshole-ishness my post may have conveyed.

Thanks for the post, I think it's helpful for my cause.
