    Default Newbie Checking in..

I need lots of advice so that way i can just purchase something. I am the kind of person that will research and research for a month till i buy something. Right now i am looking for direction on what brush mainly, I think I would like something a little smaller maybe in the 22-26mm range. I read one forum and they seemed very partial to Simpson, and this forum, wich is less biased on a brand, more focused on what is actually good. I dont mind spending some money to get something good the first time. I am not to sure why some people have a collection of brushes yet.... i guess i will see why later on. The vulfix brushes seem good, and i would also like to get some TOB cream and maybe after that get into a DE or safety Razor.

Also, I shave everyday i go to work, sometime 6 days a week, are there issues with this while using a DE or safety?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi, Welcome to B&B.

Do you have a first name? It's all very friendly here.

As far as which brush is concerned it's mostly down to budget. You can get a perfectly good brush for $20 but you could also spend a lot more than that. The Simpson brushes are very nice with a very high price tag. How much do you have to spend?

    Hey Bent !!

Been at this foe only a few months now. So I can give ya my 2c worth
    1 newb to another.

$35 Crabtree and Evelyn Best Badger brush
    $30 Merkur Hefty (HD) razor
$6 Tube of Proraso Green (from target)
    ------
$75 and you are on your way.

    Just do it!
    You wont be disappointed.
The only caveat would be on the brush. If you have large hands it may be a bit small. But I would still recommend it. Great set up IMHO.

    Good luck and Welcome.

jonnybc.. my name is chris, and thanks for the welcome. I dont mind spending 70-100 for a brush that would last.

Rikrdo... thanks for the advice, i do have big hands so i would not mind having a brush that has a bigger handle. As for as size of the actual bristle, it seems to me like a huge brush is a bit much. I think a smaller one would be more productive.. but I'm just a newbie what do i know.

I too am a newbie (third week with DE). This is my exact setup. I also bought some C&E Almond Oil cream but I find myself preferring the Proraso. Proraso's aftershave balm is good too. I love the Merkur HD! It is really a quality razor. After using this setup for two and half weeks I can say that this is a great razor to learn with.

    welcome to B&B

to answer your question I shave minimum 7 times a week (more if i can squeeze in a night shave) i never have any problems unless i push too hard to get too close a shave two or three days in a row. if I over shave one day the next ill just do two with the grain passes and alls well again. there are lots of great people here and they have you on the road to great shaves in no time.

I'd get a Rooney out of the list you've stated. Where are you from? I also like Kent Brushes. I have all of their BK range and am very pleased with the way they perform. Using the code GBK1777 will give you 20% off if entered in the checkout stage.
