  1. Default Rite-Aid Tri-Flex 3 Disposable Razors-Shockingly Good!

I received a package of Rite-Aid Tri-Flex 3 Disposable Razors from my aunt last Christmas and decided to give them a whirl a couple of days ago. I was shocked as to how good they are! Just to be sure, I switched over to my default Gillette Sensor 3 to see if it could clear-off anything after the first pass with Tri-Flex 3; silence, not a sound.

I could not get the Tri-Flex 3 to cut a crisp line at my sideburns, something the Sensor 3 is fantastic at, but that's a rather small price to pay for such a smooth shave.

If this is what generic drug-store razors can do these days, then I've been missing out.

I strongly recommend you give the Tri-Flex 3 a try.

Update: Another two great shaves out of the original disposable razor. I really don't know what to say, I'm really enjoying this razor.

I'm fairly certain this same razor is marketed under different names by several nation/regional drugstore chains.

There is also a Tri-Flex 3 Titanium disposable razor that I will be trying out soon. I will report back after I give a try.

Does it give a country of origin? What kind of container are they in?

It does say "Compare to Xtreme3" on the package, as well as numerous US patent numbers, but no country of origin.

As far as packaging, it's your standard off-the-rack razor plastic package, sorry, I can't find a pic on the web.

They are sold in "8-Packs" for $6.99.

I visited a Rite-Aid today to check out the "Titanium" version of the Tri-Flex, it seems that the "Titanium" version is an entirely different design, so I can't vouch for it, nor can I vouch for the permanent version of the Tri-Flex that uses the disposable cartridges.

A little patent exploration reveals that these are Personna razors, manufactured by ASR: http://www.asrco.com/PageView.aspx?N...D=1&RegionID=1

    The American Safety Razor Company
"The American Safety Razor Company has been in business for over 125 years. The Company traces its origins to Brooklyn, New York, where in 1875 the Kampfe Brothers introduced the Star, the first safety razor manufactured in the United States. In 1906, the several businesses begun by the Kampfes and their workers were consolidated as the American Safety Razor Company (ASR). Today, ASR has manufacturing facilities located around the world and is one of the largest producers of shaving, medical, and industrial blades. ASR is committed to QUALITY and makes every effort to ensure that its products meet the highest international standards for safety and quality. http://www.asrco.com/corporate/about/about.html

    From Wikipedia
"...the first American safety razor was patented in 1880 by the Kampfe Brothers. The new razor featured a wire-skin guard along the razor’s edge. Only one side of the actual blade is used to shave, and it must be removed often for sharpening." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_razor

This is a superior razor, disposable or otherwise, in my opinion. I have a very aggressive beard, with very coarse hair, and with a good deal of cross-grain growth; this little "cheapo" razor has provided me with the closest shaves I've ever experienced, period. It is rather unsettling.

The Tri-Flexx is good. They are made by the ASRC and marketed under different names. You can get them under the name Preserve at Whole Foods for around $5.00, and apparently Target now carries them as well. About a year ago I picked up a bunch at the 99 Cents Only store with the CVS brand.

I don't shave with cartridges often, but I do keep a pack of those just in case.

What's your usual weapon of choice Rolo?

I got a third great shave from this razor; it's really remarkable.

While I fancy myself a connoisseur of many things, including shaving accutriments, I'm not a snob; anyone who wouldn't try these suckers out simple because they're "el cheapo" drug store razors is really missing out on a great shave, and a fantastic bargain to boot.

I use different razors. This week I'm shaving with a Merkur HD loaded with a Feather. Other times I use a Gillette New from the 30's with a Dorco.

As for cartridges, I have a Schick Quattro in my drawer that I use when I'm in a rush, for quick touch ups or to shave the back of my neck.

The Sensor handle with the Tri-Flexx is in my travel bag at the moment.

That's a nice arsenal. You have to have a steady hand with those Feather blades.

Every once & a while I load-up my Merkur Futur or Gillette Fat Boy, but only if the stars are aligned (i.e. the right growth, enough time to prep properly, and can afford a nick or three), and I'm in the mood.

My default razor has been my stock Sensor handle loaded with Sensor 3 blades, but the Personna Speed 3 (as sold by Rite-Aid as the Tri-Flex 3) is now front & center. I also keep a Mach 3 at hand for "quick" or "in-between" shaves, since it is nearly impossible to cut yourself when using it.
