Thread: UK products

    Default UK products

My mom is going to be visiting Southampton for two weeks this month and I'd like to ask her to bring me back a shaving related souvenir. Anyone have any suggestions of UK only products for about £5 or less? I'm thinking something widely available and inexpensive so that she doesn't have to go out of her way to locate it. It could be soap, cream or aftershave. I'd just like to try something new that I couldn't buy in the U.S.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Euro Palmolive cream? Wilkinson-Sword soap/cream?

Hit the shaving department in a decent sized Boots the Chemist for their own label stuff (sticks, cream etc). Got to be a decent sized one though the small ones stock near nothing.

+1 on Palmolive Shaving Cream, but also Erasmic and Ingrams are cheap and good shaving creams, plus Erasmic soaps and Palmolive and Erasmic sticks are also good. Are these available in the States?
Tesco's own blades have a good reputation.
Also Swedish Gilletes are just £1.25 for 5 in John Lewis stores. They're probably a good buy.

Theres a Crabtree & Evelyn store there amongst many others

Think I'm going to have to pay a visit to the dark side myself now...

Bugger, Better scrub round that suggestion then... doh!

    +1 on Ingrams and Erasmic.

There is a huuuuuuuuuuge John Lewis store in West Quay, so might still pay a visit, as I've always wanted to try the Gillettes.

Boots is also just outside one of the entrances to the shopping centre, which makes things easier..

RR - as you're as close as a local as the original poster is likely to get - are there any independent pharmacies locally that might have anything? (I know hereabouts my most local holds mostly Wilkinson-Sword, some speciality "indigenous" (ok they're from Shetland and that's further from here than London is ) soaps and creams, the next nearest holds Gillette Super Platinum Euro (aka Swedes)

Palmolive cream is roughly £1.50 and the shave sticks are 50p that leaves you £3.00 to buy Boots Cool Cologne Cream and maybe Wilkinson Soap in the blue bowl . . . ?

I bought some Palmolive cream for £1.01 and Wilkinsons soap for £1.64 at Tesco's 2 weeks ago, always worth it at those prices.

You don't have to visit the village of the damned for Crabtree and Evelyn RR!! There's a Crabtree and Evelyn shop down Gunwharf Quays in good old Portsmouth, so no need to travel far.

Palmolive shave stick - a really great tallow-based stick with a nice scent.

Boots shave stuff - if you like the scent, their shave stick and soap bowl are very good. They also have some other good own-brand shaving products.

...and for even better news, there's also a L'Occitane shop, so definitely worth a visit I always go in the C&E shop when I'm down there, it's near the entrance just as you come into the main shopping square.

If you haven't tried the SwG's I'd go to John Lewis for them:- £1.25/5 and a close second to Feather IMHO
