    Default Going to Boston

I see that a quite a number of our members are in the Boston area. I will be going to Boston Sunday August 4th - Friday August 8th. Just a call out to see if any of you gents would like to get together for a beer or something. I will definitely be going to see the Sam Adams brewery Friday!

Feel free to post here or PM if anyone is interested.

Check out the Harpoon Brewery as well. It is an enjoyable stop for sure.

My ship pulled into Boston for Patriots Day back in 87 or 88. Had the best bowl of NE clam chowder ever at a dive waterfront bar. <<lips smacking>>

Lefty -- Sorry I missed this and now I'm on my way out for vacation, too. If you're checking in from the road and are still looking for beer places in town, here's agood list:

The Publick House, Beacon Street, Brookline
Bukowski's Tavern, 2 locations: Boston (Dalton Street, nr the Sheraton Hotel) and Inman Square in Cambridge
Cambridge Commons, Mass. Ave. bet Harvard and Porter Sq in Cambridge.
Jacob Worths, downtown in the Theater District

I've never been a fan of the Boston Beer Works brewpubs, but I'm in the minority there. And I'm guessing by now you've found the Sam Adams "brewery" tour a little underwhelming. They don't brew much but their special small batch and experimental beer there now.

    Have fun in Boston.

    Cheers,
    Chris

If you hit up the Publick House on Beacon St and you enjoy sushi, there's a GREAT place called Fugakyu a little further up the road. For a friend's birthday, we have a yearly evening that consists of a few hours at the Publick House followed by a private room at Fugakyu.

Warning, though -- neither of those places is known for being frugal. Not that they're exorbitant either, but if you're looking for cheap eats, then these would be out.

Actually my conference is in Southbridge. So I will only be in Boston this Friday. But I do appreciate the advice on Boston. I will try out as many of these as possible. There is a Publick House here in Southbridge...is it the same?
