    Lightbulb Has anyone tried this?

From a guide posted on eBay:

    Quick Shaving Technique
"I have been using vintage double edge safety razors for some time now. I have read all the procedures about how to get the best wet shave ever and they work great. I love to shave in the morning and enjoy a few minutes of Zen like peace. But you need about 10 to 15 minutes to do this correctly.

For the times when you are in a rush but don not want to revert to those polluting disposable razors and foan from a can. I have found an alternative method that works.

So here it is. Give it a try.

    THE QUICK SHAVE METHOD

After taking your hot shower instead of lathering with your favor shaving cream skip to your Nivea for Men after shave balm. The one without alcohol. Put a small amount into your hand and massage it into your face while still warm and wet from the shower. Then quickly reach for your Gillette Adjustable Merkur or Schick safety razor and gently begin to shave using the after shave as your lather.

It is fast. Takes about 2 minutes. If you are like me and go back two or three times, make sure to add the after shave each time. It is also great to use a cold razor. Zip zip zip and you are done.

Note This method does not replace the classic wet shave.

I suggest you use this as your back up that you use in between the more thorough shaves. Well it works for me. Make sure to rinse your razor thoroughly to get the oil off the blade.

Please visit my ebay shop if you are looking for great vintage razors. A great vintage razor is like your grandfather's pocket watch. It is something masculine to cheerish and to pass on to the next generation. Pat"

Then not but a few minutes ago I read this post. I will give this a try with my Nivea Alcohol free A/S Balm. Maybe try mixing with the C.L. Salter Almond Cream. Stay tuned for further details!

I haven't tried it with ASB but I have with hair conditioner and baby oil. It doesn't work! (for me anyway!)

While I think it's an interesting possibility, I wonder whether there's so much time difference between applying the AS balsem on your face or do a very quick lather directly on your face (assuming your brush etc has been soaked during your shower etc).

Personally, I'm not after a quick shave. I'm after an enjoyable shave. If I'm running late, I cut other corners. But not the shave.

I am with Randy, take your time and enjoy. If I am in a bit of a hurry I use a DE, when not I use a straight. Mostly a straight user.

I love that a 'quick shave' to you is using a DE, Glen. I have been getting some really great shaves lately and I pride myself in being able to feel like I am coming close to a straight razor shave with the convenience of a DE razor. I know some might cry 'heresy' at hearing that but it's how I feel! :)

Interesting. I don't think my skin could take it though. Has anyone used Nivea sensitive balm as a preshave (that is before soap or cream?). I'd be grateful for a report on that, since I'd like to find a cheap alternative to GFT skin food.

wouldn't it be just a quick to just lather and do one n-s pass? most creams i have tried take only a few seconds to build lather anyway. i sleep late often and can get a passable shave in only 2-3 minutes. true there may be some irritation and stubble when im done but its probably still better and just as quick as when i used to use an electric.
