    Default Newbie here checking in...

Newbie here but not to wetshaving; been using the usual Mach 3, Edge shaving cream, etc. but want a more effective/pleasurable shaving experience.

Here's what I'm looking at thus far:

Proraso Shaving Soap & After Shave Soothing Lotion

Need a recommendation on both a brush and safety razor/blades.....

    Thanks!

    Hi classicshave,

    Welcome to B&B

With PRORASO you can't do anything wrong, great stuff with a real cooling sensation, I use both of them.
Mhm, what brush, I can't say anything about Vulfix or SR, I have an SMF II silvertip brush made by Shavemac, www.Shavemac.com and a Mü-Mac, means a Savemac handle with Mühle silvertip bristles...
And the razors, okay, I have a merkur Classic Long Handle and a Merkur HD, IMO, for a "beginner" both of them are really great DE's, they work very well and they are really good-natured.

    Hope that helps a little...

    Hello and welcome to B&B!

The Merkur HD is supposed to be an excellent beginner razor, and the Crabtree & Evelyn $35 brush is pretty well liked around here.

And order a blade sampler pack from letterk.

    Welcome to the B&B

I strongly recommend a Gillette TECH razor (ebay) or a Murker HD
LetterK (John) has a sampler of blades that is great.
    These brushes are nice.

You will get 200 responses on this and 198 will differ! have fun!

    What shall we call you?

    welcome to B&B

i'll leave equipment suggestions to the more experianced among us. i will say that i shave with a HD and it gave me better shaves than the M3 almost instantly (the first 2 or 3 shaves were pretty rough but not much worse than my electric was doing)

Welcome to B&B and to the start of your wetshaving adventure-shaving with 'stuff' out of a can is not wetshaving.

BTW, resistance is futile- you will be assimilated!

  10. Default Welcome

Welcome to the site. I am a recent non-newbie who signed up a bit of time ago. What has impressed me most by the room is the generally excellent level of civility and intelligence that you rarely find on the internet these days.

    Enjoy!
