Thread: Thistle?

    Default Thistle?

I recently inherited a Thistle Brand straight razor so I thought it might be fun to try this out. Make shaving more enjoyable instead of a chore.
The Thistle appears to have a wooden handle and no markings. Is it worth restoring to operating level? Or would a person just get a new razor? I don't think I'd want to use the razor as is because it looks pretty nasty...

A picture would help us help you a lot better with out seeing the razor it is hard to say if you should/can restore it .

    Welcome to B&B .

    Nope.

The blade looks like it's decent condition, but all that black on the handle is gunk. Green is growing around the screws. Very faintly on the neck of the blade you can make out "other" and "ed razor". The rest of the inscription seems just plain worn away, not covered up.

You could clean that up very easily . It does not look like it needs to much work just a good polishing and honing .
try a toothbrush on the pins to remove the green stuff . If you look around a little you will find many ways to clean her up . Good luck and let us know how it goes
