Since we will be moving into fall/winter soon, why not go with the original whisky? Rye. A couple of my favorites are Sazerac and Rittenhouse.
Everyone should try a Manhattan made with a good
    Rye at least once.

Same as August: Bourbon, Bourbon, Bourbon.

I crave the education (after a couple of decades of studying Scotch, vodka, tequila, wine & beer).

Let me be the first (or so I believe) to recommend to you all the only home-grown whiskey from my home state of Colorado: Stranahan's. So you know, I have no connection to this distillery -- I just love what comes out of it.

It's got the sort of smoky complexity that I love in a good single-malt, but also a subtle sweetness that bourbon drinkers will recognize immediately. As a bonus, there's also a great back story to how this distillery got started up. Google Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey to check it out.

I love a couple of fingers of this after dinner on a cool/cold autumn night.

    Cheers!

Hard to find locally, but can be found on the interwebs. Like here.

I'd looooove to see that one picked soon.

    What's it called?

Is this moderately peated like Infinity, or crazy peated like I understand is Octomore, or what?

I occasionally enjoy a Limonchello from my freezer. I made my own from a bunch of yellow lemons (green prefered). Tried the store bought, and like the homemade best. Really cleans the palate.

If I remember correctly, they have released (a little while back) 3 new Whiskies....Peat, Rocks and Waves. I have yet to see them on this side of the pond unfortunately. I just looked it up and found this...

edit...Here is a blurb from Susan at K&L. Looks like they will be getting some. I spoke to her after she got back from her trip there and she was very excited. Looks like I need to keep my eye out there.

    Ooohh...

Susan Purnell wants to put a hurt on my wallet like usually only a Charles or a Sue can. It's a good thing I hate driving over to the West Bay.

Correctomundo! The peat is my favourite so far, it's also reasonable at £30 or so a bottle.

Just for your info guys, I have a REALLY great whisky shop round the corner from my house. If anyone needs help tracking something down give me a shout.

Gin - Anchor Junipero - top notch domestic gin from Anchor Brewing
Rye - WT Russell's Reserve (woops new member - just saw it was SOTM in Nov)
Tequila - Partida blanco (I'm a blanco geeko, wood flavors belong in my scotch)
Scotch - Ardmore Traditional - a unique heavily peated single highland malt which is one of the prime components of the famous Teacher's blend.

Nice suggestion -- I think we might find room for a blanco later this Spring. I've been looking into them a bit myself -- any suggestions on something a maybe just a liiiiittle bit cheaper?
