    Default Hello

    Hello Gents,
I've been following the forum for quite a while. I was using the Mach 3, then during my quest for a closer shave I went to walmart and bought the Schich QUattro - ouch, it irritated my skin, I could feel it pulling my hair. So to make a long story short, I saw the mantic videos, bought the Merkur 3 piece set, and a 38c and a HD, as well as a Rooney Stubby 2. I tried the sample pack and decided on the Derby's and the Feather's. Infact my friend and I bought 5000 Derby's and split them, so I have 2500 Derby's and I got some feathers on ebay, so I won;t have to worry about blades for the next 30-50 years.

Welcome... sounds like you are definitely set .. the mantic videos have helped me greatly, as I'm new to this also... I'm just getting ready to order some Derby's on eBay .. though 2500 would be enough to last my lifetime :-) (over 34 years if you get 5 days from each)..

    Welcome to B&B.

2500 blades would probably last me 20 years. That's quite a commitment.

Welcome to B&B. Jumping in with both feet getting that many blades at one time. Leave some room to experiment.

Welcome. Hey if you're going to do something, go all in right! Personally I'm not sold on the Derbys yet. I'm giving them another week or so and then I'll be trying the next brand. Derbys are better than Merkur though I'll give you that...although not 2500x better .

Thank you gents for the warm responses. I tried the Merkurs, then the Feathers, and the blades that came with the West Coast sampler pack (economy, no I didn't try the gillette swedes yet) along with my friend who is a DE user for 10+ years. He was going to Walmart to get the Personnas, so I sent him the Derby's and he like them better than the Walmart Personnas which cost him 17 cents plus gas money. I also came to the same conclusion, so we decided to join forces and do a bulk buy. Yes if I use 1 Derby a week, it'll last me about 48 years. I am 32 now, so I won't have to worry about it till I am 80 years old. Here's a pic of my storage bin:
I also got 200 Feathers off ebay for 32 cents delivered.
