Default The Horror - Astra Keramik

As I increase my abilities as a skilled shaves-men, I often find myself second guessing my earlier opinions of products. This is especially true when it comes to blades. Now for the ceremonial uttering of the holly disclaimer "YMMV YMMV YMMV." Having typed it three times I feel free to state my opinion of Astra Keramik russian made blades. I reevaluated these blades after shaving with Feathers and Swedes for a few months. The Astra blades are truly awful, almost as bad as Merkurs. I believe I would have gotten a closer shave and less irritation with a belt sander. I went 3 passes with this butter-knife in my razor and still had fully uncut stubble. Ok so I did put in a new Astra after the second pass thinking maybe the first was a dud. No dice, I would have been better off going back to the mock three.
A word to the wise is infuriating.

I like many of the blades from the unmentionable site, however, the Astra is teh suck. hate them both.

have you tried Astra Superior Platinums? These are probably a step up. Great blades IMO.

I've had good luck with both types, though why the Keramiks cost more than the Superior Platinums, I don't know.

truly ymmv. I haven't tried the keramik, but the superior platinum is best for me. I've had no luck with a lot of the favorites, btw--dorco, ip in particular.

I agree on this one. I bought a 100 blade pack of these and everytime I try different brand, I am reminded of how much I love these. Big improvement from the Keramiks. Oh, YMMV and all other disclaimers.

I really disliked them as well. They didn't feel very good and barely took any hair off of my face.

    What is the unmentionalbe site?

I just shaved with a Astra Keramik in a Mekur 38C with no problems. However, I have used the same blades in the Merkur 39C Slant and they tore me up.

I have converged on the Personna Reds and Feather Blades for my restock choice of DE blades.

The last time I told somebody how to get to the unmentionable site, I was given a citation warning.
