Default Looking To Get Started Wet Shaving

    Hello,
I'm pretty new to the whole wet shaving thing. I found this site a few day ago and have been reading like a madman. I've been using a Mach 3 since they came out and never was satisfied with the shave. I never got the multi-blade marketing of lift and cut. The first blade is going to cut it... unless its extremely dull. Lately I've been making two passes with my M3, WTG and XTG. It's a lot better than I'm used to, and I can't wait to see what kind of results I can get with propper equipment.

Any way, I'm thinking about trying to find a Gillette Tech in good condition to start with.

Thanks for letting join the group.

    Sam

Bell2.gif Welcome to the board. Lots of very useful info can be found here. Check out the You Tube tutorials, read through the threads, ask questions and throw away that dern M3 . What other gear do you have so far?

I've got a brush and some soap. Not the best brush, but it works. I ordered some Mama Bear's soap earlier today. That's about all the gear that I have right now.

I always shave after I shower and do a good prep. I figured that one out through trial and error, kinda like everything else. I was kinda proud of my prep when I read about propper prep on here.

Depends on how much you want to spend really. A lot of guys rave about the C&E best badger brush -> $35. Personally I believe the brush is the most important tool in the arsenal so I didn't skimp and went w/ a Rooney. Read the brush threads for reviews and an idea of what you want. Some are floppy and others are more stiff. Different people prefer each so neither type is better or worse than the other. You just need to know what suits you. I haven't used your soap, but I hear good things about it. I use Tabac as it lathers up a quick, rich mix everytime. Keep reading and asking questions. You'll eventually end up with suitable gear for your tastes.

Just a FYI I bought my C&E best badger brush at the store in the mall for 50% off. It was only like $17. I'm not sure if the sale is nationwide but it was 50% off most of the shaving supplies at the store in the Aventura mall in South Florida.

Welcome Sam, join the fun. I think a Merkur HD will be a good DE to start with and will wean you away from the Mach3.
