Music: Portishead-PNYC

1954 SuperSpeed with Swedish Gillette
Edwin Jagger Best Badger Brush
L'Occitane CADE Shave Soap
L'Occitane CADE Balm
Penhaligon's Endymion Cologne

Now out for dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant in the twin cities

I'm 20 today, and I'll celebrate with an SotD post :)

Gillette #58 with fresh Feather blade
Vulfix #2233
C&E Sandalwood soap
C&E Sandalwood ASB
C&E Sandalwood EdT

Strictly speaking, this might not be a "special birthday shave", but it was still very, very good.

...Then I woke up, but quickly realized I hadn't been sleeping, just fantasizing about the present my lovely wife was waiting to give me - all this while shaving with my Red Imp #133. Yeah, the square point I almost VanGoghed myself with.

She is no beauty queen; however, it’s the first “Ebay treasure” that I made shave ready – you know how special that is.

Plus, for Christmas, I got myself Mr. Ellis's CD and my razor buddy just bought himself a complete Dremel set. So, next birthday, I plan to bring "razor porn" and better photos.

Rest of the stuff: 20+ year old boar brush, Body Shop Shave Cream, and C.O. Bigelow Elixir Blue AS.

The results: spectacular! No sliced ears, no nicks, no errors, and no whiskers left on. BBS at last - thanks to B&B!

Nice!!

What exactly do we have here? Balm, EDT, Shave Cream and what's the cylindrical shaped item?

Also, what size are the EDT and the Balm?

So here's what I treated myself this morning.
Now that I am forty-ei..ur ah twenty one I'm going to enjoy a nice Padron 64 tonight after football practice of course.

Spur of the moment decision last night developed into this idea for my 48th Birthday shave. Of course I would have enjoyed shaving with my Great Great Grandfather's Wade & Butcher... next week I will do just that as it is on its way back from RupRazor restoration....

My goal for 2009 was to shave with a Straight Razor everyday of the year. I am putting that aside for one day, my 48th birthday, with this particular 1961 SOTD. I'm going to be using items that would have been available when I was born and would have been current in 1961.

Gillette 1-9 Adjustable Razor (Fat Boy) 1961 Date Code
Personna Blade
Williams Mug Soap
Drugstore Boar Brush
Pinaud Clubman Aftershave

Mama Bear's Rosemary Mint Shaving Soap
Kent BK4 Silvertip
1936 Gillette NEW Red & Black Set
Israeli "Red Pack" Personna
Mennen Skin Bracer Aftershave

Montale Aoud Damascus EDP

*Most of my shaving stuff is packed away. Not as luxurious as I would have hoped as for a birthday shave, but got a DFS 2 pass shave.

"Got Shoes?"
Although this is a birthday shave, it is not my birthday but rather it would have been my Dad's 79th birthday. Several years ago I started a tradition of using his original 1951 black-tipped Gillette SS and using Old Spice a/s, which was his aftershave of preference along with Aqua Velva, on the anniversary of his birthday and this one will be no exception.

Interesting - not seen anyone with the Cyril Rose cream on here for a while now. Care to add some comments to the reviews section on this cream?

I gave my #4 ... http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=34006&highlight=zowada ... it's innagural shave. (Mine had the scales replaced with lacewood, like in the stock photo from Classicshaving, bleow.) I've been saving it for just this occasion. TOBS St James, Vulfix 377, the usual suspects rounded up. (Turns out the Zowada will need a bit of work on the hones, but hey, what a great razor!)

Wow, I have serious blade-envy! Still new to shaving with a DE, I had reservations about stepping up to a straight edge but a damascus work of art like that is very tempting. Beautiful!
