After the way my day started, I needed a relaxing shave. It was pretty usual for me, but it was one of the highlights of my day, since so much went wrong. Instead of going off topic, I'll post my misadventures for the day in the appropriate place and leave this for my shave.

Hot Shower
Dovo Red Bismarck 6/8 Straight
Rooney 3/1 Super
T&H Sandalwood
Three Passes
HWR/CWR
Witch Hazel

-QED 24mm best badger
-Trumper Coconut shave cream
-Thayers aftershave

-Penhaligon's Endymion cologne

Prep: Kyle's Prep (it's always Kyle's Prep)
Razor: 1956 Gillette Red Tip Super Speed
Blade: Dorco ST-301 (Last day using the 301 I'm going back to the IP.)
Soap/Cream: Tabac SS
Brush: BaBE
Aftershave: Tabac AS
Cologne: Tabac EdC

The Month of Tabac!

Better than yesterday's shave with Tabac, but I think the overall combo doesn't work with the Dorco ST-301s (they did ok with the Proraso SS I was using for the last couple weeks). Back to the IPs for me.

Thanks for reading.

Today was my 50th Birthday. I have been working to assemble what I believed to be top notch ingredients in the hope of having a memorable shave to mark the occasion. In the end, I am happy with my selections. The shave was relaxing and I ended up really getting the day off to a good start.

When I was young, I remember gas for 19.9 cents a gallon and a bottle of Coke for a nickel. In those days no one would have imagined paying this much for shaving gear. My grandfather who was a barber would probably roll over in his grave at the idea of spending this much to shave. In spite of that, I think it was worth every cent and I appreciate everyone here at B&B who helped educate me about the finer things in the world of shaving.

Here is a picture of what went into this memorable shave. I also want to give a special thanks to Jim and Erin at Vintageblades for hand selecting the Rooney finest for me and for throwing in a sample of cologne to match the soap. They are a first class operation!

Took the day off of work so I had a nice relaxing shower and shave after breakfast. BBBS! The differing head geometry of the '76 super speed got me once (used to my '50s flaretips). First time I've busted out the styptic in months! Other than that an awesome smooth shave. I might top it off with some L'Occitane Vetyver when I head out the door.

Happy birthday deshaveman! :a50:

Still haven't decided what's for birthday (Jan 30). I'm waiting for x-mas for shave-gear-joy.
