It may be time to spend a couple weeks shaving with each of what you have in turn. That'll get you thru the year handily with razors to spare!

I have been waiting for this years list to start. I haven't ordered blades all year. I am running low at about 25 total. I just placed an order for 100 Astras and 100 Gillette SharpEdge yellows. Blades are cheap enough to purchase by the 100.

Now the main question. Are you guys stocking up for the year? Any strategies?

I have plenty of soaps, but I am unsure of the AS. Seems counterintuitive to buy a bunch of stuff to stop buying stuff. I have not purchased AS in months as well. I do not pay attention to AS usage so its difficult to estimate. I am holding off until after Christmas in case I get some from Santa.

Also I am not selling anything. I have a few items that I was going to sell, but have decided to wait. One reason is the crazy lines at the Post Office these days. The other reason is to have something to trade later.

I'm planning on doing a fairly large purchase during the restock period. I figure it's still better to have one decent size set of acquisitions once a year than to just buy spontaneously through the year. I've been keeping a list of things that I've wanted and now I can choose a subset of things to buy from the list. (I think my regular habit would just be to buy everything as I think of them. This is still restraint for me. )

Maybe this Restraint will curb my enthusiasm for buying stuff!

Hi,

I can say that my first restraint, the 2013 GRUC, really helped me 'start to stop' as it were. I then took a careful restock before entering into the 2014 year-long. While I was in that, I looked at everything I had - both what I had recently acquired as well as stuff I had for a long time - and wound up passing on most of it. I kept the heirloom items and one of the recently acquired razors (one of the Fasans).

I decided to re-up for 2015, and set an exception. But, I never did exercise it. So, in going for the Hat Trick in 2016, I did not bother to set an exception. I have come up with a few things I would like to try, though that actually scares me a little. So, I think I had better go for The Haul in 2017 and make sure that the brakes stay on!

It's way too much fun looking for stuff and buying stuff weekly, if not daily. And, it's WAY less expensive than my Watch and Travel hobbies.

Not in for next year. I've got a few modest items on my to-buy list. I'll probably continue my restraint on soaps/creams though. I'm pretty sure I have enough to last through next year, and I typically get a couple for Christmas.
