Origin of 10 Popular Nickmanes

Some of those I have wondered about. Interesting.
Well, it may not be too popular(I grew up disliking it actually)but my first name has gotten me more mistaken nicknames than I can remember. Okay, how hard is this one; Todd. Hard consonant first letter, one ruddy syllable. Let me count the the ways. Tom, Bob, Rob, and Troy. I realise these are more mistakes than nicknames but oi, how hard is it? I swear most of those nicknames came from people who just couldn't pronounce the proper names.

Probably from same joker who gave us "Mike" for Michael or "The Man" for Stan.
Great list. Now if I can only find out how "Rob" became a nickname for "Robert"...

I have always been confused about people calling JFK Jack when his name was John....now I know. Great post
Truthfully, though, my stepdaughter called me PorkChop and it stuck.
Ha! I guess that's better than lamb chop.
