Tomatoes

I just made some italian green tomato pickles with the last of my tomato crop. (we had a frost, so we're done up here.)

It sits for a few days, so I'll let you know...

Once upon a time my family grew tomatoes commercially when I was growing up. Hard, hard job but decent money. The commercial tomato varieties, same as the nasty ones sold in the store, are absolutely delicious straight from the patch.

What? Me don't understand.

Love them, with some raw apple vinegar + salt and pepper + hemp oil = yum.. Next year, I'm going try growing some basil..Sometimes they don't like me...:mad3:

Wild stab... Brandywine tomato, Honey Crisp apple and a bloody Mary, looks great!

You're right on all counts Dave. Also, the bacon was from a pig, the bread was made with wheat and the eggs were from a chicken. It's a cornucopia of all things good.

With a good tomato you don't need much else in your sandwhich.
Just butter up some bread, silce up your tomato, salt & pepper. Now get your laughing gear round that.

Yummy...did you toast the bread and apply a scant amount of Vegemite?

No but tomatoes on toast make a killer breakfast.

I did not use any vegemite either but these gold cherry tomatoes were sitting on the bench, so what is a man to do.......

these tomato porn shots are making me hungry. I love tomatoes (hereditary trait). I do miss having a jar of smucker's tomato preserves in the fridge for breakfast. That's what really got me loving tomatoes in the first place.

Those plants look like they have loads left to give Aaron, looking great! Are they still flowering and setting fruit. Days are getting longer again so some things are turning in their favour, year 'round crop?
